All, I picked this tool up at an estate sale without knowing what it is used for. I'm thinking someone here must have seen it before and knows how to use it. It is held together by a piece of tubing, which could have been owner provided. One side is marked "Stanley, Made in USA" and the other is marked "No. 4 (2?) Made in USA". The length is about 9.5". I created a link to pictures, hopefully the link comes through the mailing list servers. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/7t9b79o5bnqr6dy/AACONgU3HPEbVGVd2DTtu9VMa?dl=0 -- Paul |

It looks to me like trammel points, with the points stuffed into the hose. Not that I've seen Stanley make anything like those. If you pull them out of the hose, do the ends look at all tapered? |

Well, I have the advantage over some of our fellow porch denizens in that I am purely guessing, but, lacking further information, and not recognizing them, they might be a pair of trammel points that clamp on a stick. What are the ends in the tube? *** This message was sent from a convenience email service, and the reply address(es) may not match the originating address |

They are trammel points. Here’s some new int he box https://www.jimbodetools.com/products/stanley-no-4-trammel-points-in- original-box-74383">https://www.jimbodetools.com/products/stanley-no-4-trammel- points-in-original-box-74383 <https://www.jimbodetools.com/products /stanley-no-4-trammel-points-in-original- box-74383">https://www.jimbodetools.com/products/stanley-no-4-trammel-points-in- original-box-74383> The tubing is a clever way to keep from getting poked when you put your hand in your tool box looking for them Ed Minch |

Thanks to Curt and Ed for such quick responses. They are Trammel Points. Once I pulled them out of the tube I could clearly see the tapered points. Paul |
