. . .  has me wondering what tools you guys use to cut and shape it.  As
I mentioned in a post some time back, I have some whitetail antler that
I found as shed.  I intend to use it as handles for fire starting
strikers.  I've already cut it to various lengths and await the arrival
of a roundtuit to drill the pieces and glue in the shafts.  Can this
drill be done with a galoot eggbeater or should one consider one of
those evil, electrickery rotating, spinning, whirring, and noise making
instruments of Satan?

Hey Bob
Its bone. So its harder than most wood, but softer than nearly any metal.
Think maybe soft aluminum. Any metalworking tool works a treat.
So sure, eggbeater with a twist bit.
  Hacksaw.
File, either coarse or fine.  easy peasy

Warning, if you sand or grind bone with a powered device, well nobody
needs to tell you its dangerous.
One whiff and you are out the door on your own!
peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeyuuuuuuuw!! haahah

Use powerful air control. I wouldn't even trust a respirator on this
one. I want exhaust.   :)

Looking forward to pics. I have never seen a striker with a handle,
but it is a great idea.
