And another year is here. Pickings are still slow but I am still
getting some stuff in. The usual mix in here of collectible and usable
old and a few new tools.
PayPal is now accepted and preferred (if you use it) on all items. On
items less than $25 (not including shipping) I would appreciate you
using the Send Money to Family & Friends option so I don't get killed
with the fees but that is your call. Checks and money orders are still
welcome, it just seems that 1st Class letters seem to be taking forever
to get from there to here.
And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!
First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.
Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Tyzack Sons & Turner No 131 8 Inch Gentleman's Steel Back Dovetail Saw.
Measuring 12 13/16" overall, the blade is 8" long, 1 9/16" high (from
the teeth to the start of the back), this is sharpened to 15 PT (14 TPI)
CC, and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. This is NOS (that's New Old Stock)
and was not cleaned. There is nothing to fuss about at all other than a
few very light scuffs to the finish on the blade. This is factory sharp
and straight and they don't get any better than this. Note: This might
vary slightly from the photo as I have a few of these. $22.00

Craftsman Sargent No 79 Rabbet & Filletster Plane. This weighs 2 lbs 14
oz unboxed. This was made by Sargent for Sears in the late 1940's.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any
bending you see is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks
would think that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. The machined
areas of the sides have some frosting. The sole also has some frosting
but nothing too bad patina wise. The japanning is original and 95%
present. The cap is good. The blade does have some light pitting
overall, the cutting face isn't too bad and there is plenty there to
work with. The blade will need a sharpening. All the screws work,
including the knicker blade screw, and were oiled. The fence rod works
in both holes. This ain't pristine but it will get the job done. $40.00

Early Hand Forged 2 Inch Firmer Chisel. Measuring 8 1/16" from the edge
to the top of the handle, the blade is 4 1/4" long, 2" wide at the edge
and tapers down to 1 7/8", this is 12 1/8" overall, and this weighs 1 lb
2 1/4 oz unboxed. There is a name stamped on the back of the shaft but
I can't say if that's the marker or a user mark. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. The blade has some scuff marks on the back
and some areas of light pitting. The front also has some light pitting
and patina. There are some dings on the sides. The shaft area has some
scuff marks left over from when this was made and the tang bolster is
good. The handle is in fair condition. There is a check that goes all
the way up but the handle is on tight. There is also some deep chips
and slivers. I did saw off a little bit of nasty fuzzy stuff on the
end. So the handle will need replacing, but the ferrule is good and
that's a start. This ain't pretty or perfect but it does have some age
to it and well it ain't all that bad either. $24.00

Irwin No 62T 3/4 Inch Brace Auger Bit. This weighs 4 1/2 oz unboxed.
This is NOS, that's New Old Stock, and was not cleaned. There ain't
nothing much to fuss about at all other than a little staining on the
case. The cutters, spurs, lead screw, and tang are all factory fresh.
They don't get any better than this. $14.00

Two Lufkin Machinist No 41 3 Inch Outside Calipers. They are 3 11/16"
long and they weigh 1 3/4 oz unboxed. These are NOS, that's New Old
Stock. I did clean off some oil residue on these (they were oiled at the
factory). There is a little still up in the joints and there and here.
There are a few stained spots (these weren't stored very well), but they
work just fine. Lufkin machinist tools are every bit as good as their
Starrett and Brown & Sharpe cousins. A good pair of Lufkin layout tools
for sure!

Four Yankee No 30 130 Screwdriver Bits. Left to right there is a 3/16"
straight, a 1/4" straight, 1/4" Phillips, a 5/16" Phillips, and they
weigh 3 1/2 oz unboxed. The straight bits are signed and the Phillips
are not maker marked. These will fit the Yankee and Stanley No. 30 and
131 push screwdrivers along with the A models. These are NOS (that's New
Old Stock) but they were lying around in a barn for the past 35 or so
years and I did do some cleaning on them. The Phillips have a few small
spots of staining and the 1/4" straight does have a few spots where the
plating is flaking on the blade. But the tips and tang ends are all
good to go. This is a good working set of these guys for the price. $18.00

Unusual Early Hand Forged Blacksmith Anvil Hardie. Measuring 5 7/8"
long, the face is roughly 1 7/8" long, 1 1/2" wide, the shaft is about
7/8" square, and this weighs 2 lbs 8 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to
the maker. This does have chisel and punch mark decorations on both
sides of the head. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
is some patina but nothing that didn't come from old age and hard work.
The face is good other than some staining. The head and shaft are bent
a little but when you get to be this old, you are gonna be more than a
little bent. The center section is tapered and the hole below the
center and the holes on the sides are also tapered, although they may
have been added to this guy later in it's history. I an thinking that
this was used for drawing down a rod to a smaller size, but it didn't
come with the instruction manual so that's just a somewhat educated
guess. This is a neat and very collectible blacksmith tool and it sure
didn't get here for free either. Just saying. $55.00

weighs 11 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall light patina,
including pitting and some dings. The face has some light pitting and a
few small chips around the edge. The peen is good other than a little
wear on the edges. The punched eye is tapered at the rear but it's good
otherwise. This ain't pretty or perfect but for light metal work, it
will get the job done. $17.00

unboxed. These are in used condition and were not cleaned. There is
some wear and light patina. The tops have some light dings. The tips

sure don't show up very often and they are a whole lot cheaper than the
new ones. Just saying. $16.00

and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in reasonably good condition
and was cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about.
The rim has some light dings but that and the cutter feel sharp to the
touch. There is no center point on bits of this size. The tang is
good. This ain't pristine but this size does not show up very often.

head is 3" long, the face is 15/16" in diameter, the peen is 3/4" in
diameter, and this weighs 10 1/2 oz total unboxed. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. The head is good other than a few tiny
dings. The face also has some dings and the peen is good. The handle is
the original one. That was stripped and waxed. The original green
paint was pretty messed up with other paint and grease. There are some
ding, and stains but it's solid and the head is on tight. This ain't
pristine but it is a quality old hammer. $17.00

Thomas 1904 Patent Twin Spur Corn Husker. This weighs 4 1/4 oz
unboxed. Robert A. Thomas of Shenandoah, Iowa was granted Pat. No
767,918 on Aug. 16, 1904 for the design of this tool. This is in decent
condition and was not cleaned. There is a little patina on the plate
and the spurs but nothing too bad. The spurs are fastened with screws
on the back of the plate and are accessed through slits in the leather.
I tried all the screws and they do turn but I didn't have them all the
way out. The leather has some staining on the front and there is an
area where it's worn through on the back side. The straps are stiff but
not cracked. This ain't pristine but then this wasn't something that
purchased just to be admired for it's beauty and it's the first one of
these that I have seen. $22.00

overall, the blade is 7 15/16" long, 1 1/8" +/- a little wide across the
edge, and this weighs 15 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition
and was cleaned. The back of the blade has some light patches of
pitting and some scuffing. The top is good with no dings. The front of
the blade has some frosting and light patina. The edge is good but will
need a quick sharpening. The walnut handles both have some wear and
flat spots. The right one wiggles a bit but it ain't going to fall
off. The ferrules and end caps have some frosting as well. This ain't
minty but it will get the job done. $28.00

a 3/4" measuring 8 1/4" overall, the blade is 2 7/8" long, the last one
is a 1" measuring 8 5/16" overall, the blade is 2 15/16" long, and they
weigh 1 lb 3 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in decent condition overall and
were cleaned. The backs of the blades are good other than some staining
and a little frosting. The fronts have more of the same. The edges
will need a sharpening. The Buck Rogers Permaloid handles all have some
wear and bits of paint and glue that didn't want to come off without a
fight and 2 of them have hanging holes. The striking buttons are all
dinged up but that is what they are there for. These ain't pristine but
they are quality working tools. $45.00

lower one is 7 1/16" long, about 3/4" in diameter at the start of the
handle area, and they weigh 1 lb 6 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. These are in decent condition and were cleaned. There is some
overall patina. I did run a file over some mushrooming on the tip of
the upper one and there are some dings on the edges for the first 5/8"
or so. The tip on the lower one is good. I did dress down a little bit
of sharp stuff on the striking ends of both of them and they are good
other than some dinging. This ain't fancy and they sure ain't pretty but

Early Stanley Excelsior No 9 1/2 Block Plane Body To Restore. This
weighs 15 oz unboxed. Based on the dates on the lateral lever, this
was made between 1890 and 1898. This is in to restore condition and was
cleaned. Read on. The sides have some light pitting and rust etching
but no cracks or chips on the rails like a lot of these that you see.
The sole has some more rust etching and pitting but the rear of the
mouth is good with no cracks. The japanning, what's left of it, is
original and about 60%. I did not put anything on the body in case you
want to refinish this guy. The mouth adjuster works (insert the
appropriate cussing) and I did wipe down the insides with some wax to
prevent future rusting. All the screws work and were oiled. The cap
that came with this guy has a crack in in (not shown) and the original
blade was ground down to the slot and the slot had been deepened almost
to the logo (somebody really loved that blade eh?). I will toss them in
the package if you want them but they aren't usable. This is what it is
but it is an intact body for a collectible plane. $24.00

John S Fray No 112 12 Inch Sweep Spofford Brace. This weighs 2 lbs 1
1/2" oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The frame
has frosting and spots of light pitting. The chuck is good. The screw
is the original one. The head is slightly twisted and there are pliers
marks on it, but the threads are good and were oiled. The grip was
repaired with wire at some point in time (common with these guys) but it
does spin freely. The pad has some dings around the edges and some wear
on the back but it's solid and spins freely with just a little play on
the shaft. That also was oiled. This ain't minty and it sure ain't got
the price of a minty one either but these 12" models sure don't show up
every day. $40.00

Old Wood Cased Sharpening Stone Or Hone. The case is 8 7/16" long, 3"
wide, the stone is 6 3/8" long, 2" wide, and this weighs 2 lb unboxed.
Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. The stone looks to be a fine grit natural stone. That has some
wear in the center, some scratches, and some chips on the edges. The
stone is glued into the case (not my doings!) The case looks to be made
from a block of pine but I can't be sure on that. That also has some
dings, stains, and a small check on the top. Somebody filled down the
nail points on the bottom (also before this got here). There is no lid
and I sort of think that it never had one. This ain't pristine but it
does have some age to it. $24.00

this weighs 3 oz unboxed. This will fit either the K110 or K130 block
planes. This is in decent shape and was cleaned. There are some light
scratches overall from being cleaned. There is a light spot of pitting
on the front, a deeper one on the center of the back and a lighter one
about 3/4 of the way down. The cutting face is good other than some
frosting. The edge does have a ding on it. This is what it is, but it

screw), 1 7/8" wide across the top, the handle is 7 1/8" wide, and this
weighs 1 lb unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. The back of the blade has some light
pitting. The inside has some patina but that was never finished off
real pretty like to start with. The lead screw is good. The edges
would need a quick sharpening. The handle looks to be boxwood, which is
not all that common on these tools. That has some staining and chipping
at both ends and there is a good sized check on the underside along the
tang. The handle is on tight. This ain't pretty or perfect but
figuring that it's well over 100 years old and probably a whole lot
older, well it sure ain't bad. $27.00

Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition overall and was
cleaned. There is some pitting and patina on the head but this guy was
never a pretty tool to start with. I did rough in a new edge to clean
up some chipping but that will need some fine tuning if you want to use
this to shave your hee haw with. The striking end has a little
mushrooming and some dings and a few tiny checks. The punched eye is
good save for a little crusty. This ain't minty but it will ge the job
done. $18.00

high, 1 1/2" wide, the other is 2 3/4" high, 1 9/16" wide, and this
weighs 5 lbs 10 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
decent condition overall and was cleaned. This does have steel faces on
an iron body. There is some overall pitting. Both of the faces have
some wear on the side edges, the one has bit more than the other one.
There are voids inside the eye but those are left over from when this
was made and they sure didn't stop the last guy from putting a handle
on. This ain't pristine but this guy has some serious age to it and
this style of stone hammer does not show up very often. $22.00

on the head. The peen has some light dings. The face also has some
light dings and I did take some mushrooming off of the edge. The handle

overall frosting, and some dinging on the sides. The beech handle has a
couple of thin checks under the ferrule but the blade is in tight.
There are some stains, dings, and a few tiny bits of paint down in the

(across the center), the edge is 1 1/2" high (straight across), and this
weighs 3 lbs 6 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
fair condition overall and was cleaned. There is the usual patina on
the head. There is some carnage on the poll, there is a piece that has
broken out and the eye is cracked. I did take down a couple of very
sharp spots on the sides of the poll. This ain't going to be a user (not
without some serious blacksmith intervention) but still is a collectible
early tool and well all the good ones I see around here anymore are
priced at least twice what I'm asking for this guy. $25.00

Original Stillman Non Patent Sawset Or Saw Set. Measuring 6 5/8" long
and this weighs 4 1/4 oz unboxed. Abel Stillman of Poland, NY was
granted the first US patent for a sawset in 1848 which which was copied
and made by a lot of makers, but this model he never patented and was
made by him alone, at least with the brass jaw clamp. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The arm has some spots of
staining and a little frosting but nothing too bad. The brass jaw clamp
is good with no cracks (a common problem with these guys). The jaw has
some light wear on the tips. The walnut handle is original and good
other than some stains and a few light dings. All the screws work and
were oiled. This ain't pristine but for a tool that is easily over 160

right at the edge. This will need a good sharpening. The rest of the
blade has some staining and frosting. The handle looks to be the
original one. That has some stains, dings, and there is some chipping
starting at the striking end. The blade is in tight. This ain't pretty
or perfect but it will get the job done. $24.00

Old Forged Stone Or Brick Mason Cement Pointing Tool. Measuring 8" long
(straight across), the wide end is a hair under 3/4" in diameter, the
smaller end is 5/16" in diameter at the tip, and this weighs 14 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition
overall and was cleaned. There is some overall pitting on the tool but
the faces are fairly good other than some light stuff. There is a
little wear on the faces as well. This ain't pristine but you ain't
gonna buy a pointing tool of this quality at the hardware stores no
more. $17.00

Two W Butcher Edge Tools. The upper one is a 1/4" chisel measuring 4
3/8" from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 3 11/16" long,
this is 10 5/16" overall, the lower one is a gouge measuring 4 1/8" from
the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 3 1/16" long, 7/16" wide
across the outside of the sweep, this is 10 1/8" overall, and they weigh
5 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in decent condition overall and were
cleaned. The blade on the chisel has some spots of light pitting on the
back and some overall frosting but that will work out as this is
sharpened. The front also has some patina going. The gouge has some
light spots on the inside of the sweep but the back is fairly good other
than some frosting. Both will need a sharpening. The handles look to be
the original ones. They both have some dings and stains and the brass
ferrule on the gouge has a split, but they are solid. These ain't
pristine but they still have lots of life left in them and the W Butcher
reputation for quality tools has stood the test of time. $24.00

Vintage S & H Mfg Co Clinton WI Cement Gutter Trowel. Measuring 6"
long, 4 3/4" wide across the top of the body, 1 5/8" deep at the center,
and this weighs 1 lb 13 1/2 oz unboxed. The Smith and Holtum
Manufacturing Co made cement tools from 1902 until 1945. This is in
decent condition overall and was cleaned. The face of the body was
plated originally and that is worn in spots. There are also some spots
of light pitting and scratches. The edges are good (the end edges were
rounded at the factory). Inside the body there is some patina and
rusting but that was never plated. The handle has some stains but it's
solid and on tight. I did not mess with the screws. This ain't
pristine but this is not a commonly found cement tool and you sure ain't
gonna buy of of this quality at the local hardware store any more. $22.00

Vintage Cast Steel Cobblers Hammer. Measuring 9 1/2" overall, the head
is 3 3/4" long, the face is 1 5/8" in diameter, the peen is 1 5/16"
wide, and this weighs 14 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker,
this is just marked Cast Steel on the one side. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. There is some light patina on the
head, some staining and a few dings but nothing too bad. The face is
good with just some light dings and one tiny chip off of the edge. The
peen has some roughness and a little mushrooming on the underside. The
handle looks to be the original one. That has a check under the eye, a
little roughness on the one side, some chipping at the end and a split
starting there as well. There is a bun1ch of extra hardware holding the
head on and it does wiggle a little but it ain't going to come off.
This ain't minty but it does have some age to it. $17.00

edges are 1 3/8" wide, 15/16" high at the eye, and this weighs 1 lb 1
1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some light pitting on the top and
sides and some deeper spots on the undersides of the edges. The edges
have some dings but they are fairly good. The punched eye is good other
than a little scuffing and a couple of light saw marks from a previous
handle job. This ain't minty but these guys are sure few and far
between any more, at least around these here parts. $22.00

Vintage Heller Bros Carpenters Claw Hammer. Measuring 12 1/4" overall,
the head is 4 7/8" long (straight across), the face is 7/8" in diameter,
the claws are 1 5/16" wide across the tips, and this weighs 1 lb 7 3/4
oz unboxed. This is in reasonable condition for the age and use and was
cleaned. The head is good, there is a little frosting and some scuffs
left over from when it was made but nothing too bad patina wise. The
face has some light dings. The claws have a little chipping along the
inside edges but they aren't all blown out. The eye looks good with no
cracks that I can see. The handle is fair and might be the original
one. That has a check under the eye and some dings, stains, some
chipping at the end, and a few tiny bits of paint down in the grain.
The head is on tight thanks to an assortment of wedges in there. This
ain't minty but the Heller name has stood for quality for a long time.

Vintage Stanley No 12 4 Inch Improved Try Square. Measuring 5 1/8"
overall, the blade is 4" long, this is 3 7/16" high, and this weighs 4
1/2 oz unboxed. This is a Type 3 which was made by Stanley for a long
time. This is in decent condition overall and was cleaned. The one side
of the blade has one area of light pitting and a few dots and frosting,
the other side is fairly clean. The rulings are readable on both sides
but they are very faint. the edges and corners are good. The machined
areas of the handle are good other than a user name stamped on the back
and end. The plating on the inside of the handle has some light crusty
but most of it is there. This is true according to my reference square
here. This ain't minty but this is not a commonly found size for one of
these guys. $19.00

Long Early Wood Compass Sole Slitting Gage Or Gauge To Restore. The
beam is 21 3/4" long, 1 1/16" wide, 15/16" high, the head is 5 9/16"
wide, 2 15/16" high, and this weighs 1 lb 5 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is reasonably good condition and was cleaned but
it will need some work. The beam is straight but it does have a slight
twist to it. The tote style handle is also good other than a small chip
off of the horn. The handle does come off the tool and will need to be
re-wedged but that will make the shipping a little easier. The head has
a little chipping around the beam mortise on the back but the sole is
good and the screw works. This will need, the blade and blade wedge, the
shoe between the beam and the head, and circular piece that goes inside
the head between the shoe and the end of the screw. This will need some
work but this is a handy and collectible tool. $24.00

Jackson Bros Pittsburgh PA Wood Handle Tack Lifter. Measuring 7 3/16"
long, the claws are a little under 1/2" wide across the tips, and this
weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed. The Jackson Bros were a Pittsburgh PA tool
maker, mainly mason's tools but they did make others. This is in
reasonably good condition and was cleaned by someone else. There isn't
much in the way of patina. The claws are bent a little at the tips but
they are good otherwise. The wooden handle does have a thin check on
the one side but the blade is in tight. I gotta say that I sure don't
see too many tools around by this maker. $17.00

Big Vintage Wood Cabinetmakers C-Clamp. The body is 13" long (outside),
8 1/2" high, inside it's 9" across, the throat is 5" deep, and this
weighs 2 lbs 11 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in
reasonably good condition and was not cleaned. There is the usual patina
but nothing too bad. There are a couple of checks showing on the joints
but this is solid. The screw was replaced at some point, there are 2
holes but the other one is a small diameter. The hole was drilled at a
little bit of an angle so the screw isn't exactly parallel with the
body. The threads have a few dings but the screw is straight. I gotta
say that I haven't seen too many of these guys around of late and rarely
are they in this kind of shape. $24.00

Vintage Ice Axe Or Hatchet. Measuring 11 11/16" overall, the head is 9"
long (across the center), the edge is 1 11/16" high (straight across),
and this weighs 1 lb 8 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is
in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. It arrived here with a
user applied coat of red paint on most of the head and since you never
know what that is hiding, I took that off. There are a few spots where
it didn't want to come off. The blade area is clean other a little
frosting down on the lower end on both sides. The body has some
roughness but that was left over from when this was made. The spike is
good. The handle looks to be the original one. That is good other than
a few spots along the front where some slivers have lifted out of the
grain and the head is on tight. I gotta say that this is not a very
common size to find one of these tools in and getting one in this kind
of shape is a real find. $50.00

Early Hand Forged Stone Or Brick Mason Hammer. Measuring 11 3/4"
overall, the head is 8 1/2" long, the face is roughly 7/8" square, the
peen is 1 1/16" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 12 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. This is in reasonably good condition for the age and
use and was cleaned. This had been cleaned previously and there are
some scuff marks on the body from that. The face was also dressed.
There are some stuffs and a few light dings but that is good to go. I
did run a file over some sharp spots around the edge. The peen is dulled
but that could be fixed if you want it sharp. The handle is old but
solid and the head is on tight. That is warped a little towards the
back. This ain't perfect but this is a solid and well crafted early
tool. $22.00

Stanley No 25 10 Inch Sliding Adjustable Bevel Square. This weighs 5
1/4 oz unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was not
cleaned. The blade has a few lightly stained spots and the bluing is
worn a little but nothing too bad. The edges and corners are good. The
handle has the original finish. There is a little funky on the brass
under the finish. The locking lever is bent a little but that happens
with these larger ones and it does it's job. This ain't pristine but it
sure ain't bad and these bigger ones are sure getting harder to find in
this kind of shape. $20.00

Stanley Rule & Level No 103 Block Plane. This weighs 12 1/2 oz
unboxed. This has the B casting mark on the body which shows up on
tools made by Stanley between 1899 and 1902. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any bending you see
is because of camera lens distortion, although why folks would think
that I would sell a bent plane is beyond me. The sole has some
scratches and a few light spots of pitting but nothing too bad. The
japanning is original, it's worn on on the side, on the other side and
inside the body it's good other than a few bits of paint. The finish on
the cap is worn but the thumb wheel is good. The blade has some light
patina on the front and some frosting on the cutting face but there is
lots there to work with. The blade will need a sharpening. The depth
lever works and was oiled. This ain't pristine but then planes that are
over 115 years old rarely are. $20.00

to the top of the handle, the blade is 5 11/16" long, this is 11 15/16"
overall, and this weighs 2 1/4 oz unboxed. The mark is faint but I
figured it out. This is in reasonably good condition for the age of the
tool and was cleaned. The first 1/2 of the back is good other than a
few stained spots, after that there are a few dots of pitting and some
staining. The front is good save for some frosting. The handle has
stamped user initials and a little wear and staining on the striking end
but it's solid. This ain't perfect but Charles Buck edge tools were
considered to be the best of their day. $20.00

Early Wood Chairmakers Pad Brace Or Bitstock. Measuring 13 3/8" long,
the sweep about is 8 1/2", the chuck opening is roughly 11/16" square,
the pad is 3 1/2" in diameter, and this weighs 1 lb 3 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in reasonable condition for the age.
Somebody else refinished this guy, I just gave it a wipedown with some
wax. The body is good for the most part, there are some thin checks
there and here. The underside of the section that holds that pad has a
split that runs the full distance. That could be repaired without too
much loss of life. The chuck is good and is sheathed with copper. The
bits for these tool were mounted into blocks of wood called pads that
fit into the chuck, I didn't get any of those with this guy. The pad is
good, there is some play but that's to be expected. I have to say that
these tools are sure getting few and far between, and while this one
isn't perfect, it sure ain't bad either. $40.00

to the maker. This is in fair condition and was lightly cleaned. There
is lots of patina including some dings. The back is bent and the forge
weld line is starting to open up. I didn't test this to see if it would
still throw a spark but I doubt that it would without some serious rust
removal the face. I have to say that these guys are sure getting few

blade has some spots of light pitting and staining. The handle came off
of a regular turnscew (not my doings thank you!). That has some wear,
stains, dings, and somebody cut a cross onto both sides of the flat.
There is a check under the ferrule but the blade is in tight. This

edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 8" long, this is 15 1/2"
overall, and they weigh 1 lb 2 oz unboxed. Karpenter was a brand name
used by the Winsted Edge Tool Company best known for the T H Witherby
brand of tools. Look it up. These are in reasonably good condition and
were cleaned. Note these are straight, any bending you see is because
of camera lens distortion. The back of the 1/4" has some light frosting
and a few spots of light pitting down by the socket but nothing too
bad. The back of the 1/2" is good save for a few very light dots. The
sides and tops of both have some small spots of patina. Both of the
edges do have chips and will need a good sharpening. The sockets have
some light pitting. The handles are the original ones. They have some
staining but are good to go. These ain't perfect but they are quality
tools with a lot of life left in them. $55.00

on these tools. The cutting face of the blade has some light pitting.
The edge has some light dings but it's close to sharp. The hand carved
handle is good other than some stains. The tang goes all the way though
