I tried twice to forward Mike's announcement of the YouTube channel to
the list but it didn't show, I hope this does. He has hopes to video
all his models given enough traffic to have the advertising cover the
expense.

He taught classes and sold turning sets (still does!) and I paid, no
other renumeration.

Make a Sack Back Windsor - Episode 1

Dammit, I have a set of side chairs sitting downstairs, about a decade old
Work In Progress. Watching Mike's videos reminded me of this project.
I am trying real hard NOT to feel obligated or compelled in any way.
Besides, SWMBO has a WIP older than my chairs, so she has no
cause to complain.

Thanks for the heads up on Mike's videos. They are great. They are done
with a high level of production value. He includes a lot of tips that I
find both interesting and useful. Along with Curtis Buchanan, the Windsor
chair makers are leading the way in generously making their chairbuilding
courses available for free.

I write to encourage all Old Toolers, and O'Deen to watch the videos. I
have a selfish reason. I want to see Mike continue on and do the Nantucket
Fanback chair. It's different from what other chairbuilders teach, and is
a chair that has become associated with Mike. I would love to see it the
next chair he covers. But a note on the videos says he will be able to do
more videos only if the traffic for the first one justifies doing others.
So, go forth and watch Mike's videos. They are good entertainment even if
you are not considering making a Windsor chair.

Best Regards,
Steve - who has made two, but would like to do two more chairs. One of
which would make Garth Huxtable proud.

I just finished watching episode 1 and it was great. I look forward to
watching the remaining videos in this series and I really hope he continues
to release videos of other chair designs. Thanks so much for sharing!

Watching Mike work with that drawknife you cannot help but see that
he KNOWS the wood and the tools.  Most of us who use hand tools
a lot, we get that.  I know the wood and the tools well enough to
get stuff done, but watching Mike, well, he just knows where to
put the effort in, and where the wood will work for you to help the
tools get the job done.  Damn, I gotta get those old dusty parts
back into the shop and finish that set of chairs!
