266510 Don Schwartz <dks@t...> 2018‑09‑14 DIRECORD brand eggbeater
A while ago, I picked up a cute little 7-1/2in eggbeater ( hand drill,
Jeff) stamped DIRECORD inside a diamond plaque, and also GERMANY. It's a
modest tool, with hardwood handles and a mid-green coating on the gear
wheel.

I googled and searched Wolfgang's site, with no find. Does anyone have
knowledge of this mark?

Don, on a very chilly autumn morning in Calgary  -1deg C!!!

My bad. I had originally thought it was RECORD, but after disassembly,
found that a washer had been obscuring two characters.
But I misreported. It's KIRECORD in what Albertans would call a lazy
diamond.

Google was no help with that either. I couldn't find it in John Walter's
listings. Ditto German patent & trademark office.
I'm unable to connect to holzwerken.de this evening. Will try again
tomorrow.

My excuse is that I have managed to catch me a head cold.

Kirecord was found a few times as a Solignen based manufacturer of straight
razors.

The razor guys suggested 1930s- 1960s based on styling.

May be more later when I am not working off a phone or iPad.

Kirk, where yesterday’s and last weekends hauls need to be unpacked and
moved out of the truck.

Sent from my iPad, apologies for the Auto Correct errors. Kirk

Well, if this isn't just turning into an annoyingly difficult search.

Turns out that KI seems to be a Chinese language word for RECORD, so when
they use for example Si-yu-ki (Record of the Western World), google finds
that. And there are lots of books titled Record of the.......

So far, both references to Kirecord both refer to straight razors. In one,
the text on the blade is all in English ( Kirecord "Best Cutter", Solingen
Germany) (Reg. Trademark) instead of Deutschland, I wonder if these were
destined for export, and thus don't show up in German channels. Also,
sounds too new for Wolfgang to have picked it up in his stuff.

Gonna have to punt on this one. Best of luck Don.

Yeah. Thanks for your efforts. I even tried searching 'Alte Bohrer
Manuell Handbohrer' on ebay.de with no luck.

(Figure that one out yourself Jeff.)

I may try an image search once I have a photo.
