I agree with Charlie's perspective.  They don't need to be Scary Sharp, but
good enough to penetrate well.  Schwarz wrote a blog post about stripping
off zinc coating on new ones, just go keep them in better.

Mine were dull when I got them, and they worked much better after
sharpening.
