Thanks to Mike, Kirk, Bob and others who shared their knowledge about the Spear
and Jackson saw and its somewhat unique Medallion.
As was suggested, the medallion is actually a pretty standard medallion with a
escutcheon collar or flange captured under the edge of the center medallion. I
was also introduced to Simon Barley’s British Saws and Saw Makers since 1660
(circa $90. and then stumbled into a condensed ($21.00) version on the same
topic by Barley. In recent months I have been impressed with the British
history of record keeping and general desire to retain such history of
production.
