GG's
Earlier in the year I was invited to purchase 2 chests of
Pattern-maker's tools.
I'd displayed my wares for sale at a swap meet and an elderly gentleman
walked up.
Pointing to a couple of chisels, said "they look like pattern maker's
chisels ... I've a couple of boxes with those in them"
So I asked what his plans for them were...keep, pass down to family ...
or maybe sell to me.
Well, he lived only 5 minutes drive away, so I shot around at the close,
and spent my takings for the day!
He was trained post war in a local company making small to huge valves
and pumps
In the 60's he went to the US for a few years and returned to Aust to
manage rather than make.
There is an interesting combination of User Made, Local, UK and US tools
in the boxes.
As time allows I'll do a full photo essay later for my website, but this
cast iron Square Stock was something that immediately caught my attention.
They made a pattern, and had them cast and machined for all those in the
shop.
One end fits the rule form his Starrett combination set, and the other
engages a slot cut into the end of his shrink rule.
He said they were particularity good to stand up the rule on a lay-out
table....enjoy a look at these...
