That's great! Congratulations!
Question: Are you concerned about the angle of the saws in the till? It looks
like they are fairly vertical, which might allow them to fall off the wall. If
that turns into a problem, perhaps you can add a swing-away bar to hold them in
place.
Is the space at the bottom for a drawer (for sharpening tools and the like)?
Do you have in mind for the shelf-like space in front of the saws to serve any
particular purpose? It might become a great home for piles of dust; you might
want to add a slanted board (obviously, only going up about halfway on the
cross-piece that holds the saws so that there is room for the saws to rest) to
diminish the dust.
For finish, Watco Danish oil might be a good choice. It is your basic oil
varnish--an oil with rosin ester for hardness. It is incredibly easy to use and
close enough to a traditional finish (i.e., it is not polyurethane) that you
might like it. If you want a natural resin varnish, you might want to use Tried
& True's varnish oil.
Congratulations again!
Micah

Subject: [OldTools] My first real project. My saw till.

Hi Galootians (?!)

I read you every day, even multiples times a day.
You guys and gals are a infinite bank of knowledge and I can't stop learning
from you (even if sometime I need to google something basic as "milk paint" to
understand what you're talking about.

So I want to bring you with me on my first "real" project. My little sawtill.
This project have been made entirely with the hand tolls I have on hand. No
drill or electric saw were harmed in the making of this product.

Take a look if you want to, don't hesitate to correct my mistakes since I'm here
to learn.

I'd like to ask you, how would you finish it ? I'm looking for Shellac here In
northern quebec but can't seems to find any. I don't want to paint it because of
I like how the wood shows.

What product, easily available, would you recommand ? (Butcher block oil tend to
disappear so it's probably not the best product for this intent.)

p.s. What mean GGG ?

Thank you.

Rick.
