262694 Michael Parrish <michaelparrish@o...> 2017‑07‑19 Re: Winding sticks
Well, my one and only attempt at making winding sticks was a disaster. I had
slightly thin walnut stock to begin with. When I resawed it into two sticks, it
immediately warped beyond recovery. I will have to get motivated and try again
one day.

I can't imagine why two sticks of different species wouldn't work. Unless I was
the one making them, then I could see a reason it wouldn't work. Lol.

 Subject: [OldTools] Winding sticks

Since we are in the throes of Winding Stick building......

I thought I might ask....
I have always seen these as 2 pieces of identical species wood, with sometimes
and inlay of lighter wood ( or ivory) on one of them.....

Has anyone tried to make a set from 2 species of wood with different colors? As
in Maple and walnut ..... one light , the other dark?.. rather than the inlay
...?
Was it a successful set?
