Hey Scott,
Based on your rave review, I ordered a set of those Chinese chisels. At
least they look the same and they seem to be pretty common on the *bay.
You seem to be satisfied with your handle design for the socketed
chisels. I'm wondering what your recommendation would be for the
handles of the tanged chisels. In this ugly-handled set, the tanged
handles are made longer so the overall length of the tanged chisels and
the socket-ed chisel is about the same. Do you think that is a good
idea or would you approach them differently?

The set of chisels you showed in your pictures looks like you've done
some work polishing the rough forged metal of the socket-ed chisels.
Care to comment on your approach to cleaning those up? I can think of
several approaches from hand sanding, sand blasting, flap wheels, etc.
Do you have a favorite method?
I just placed the order for the set and have no idea when they will show
up, but I expect they will keep me busy for quite a while. I'll need to
find someone with carving experience to confirm your review. :-)

Bill W.
