Second list for the month of April. Got some new and good tools in
here. The weather has been less than cooperative on flea market days
still but one keeps hoping.
I'd really prefer a check for payment for all items. On items less than
$25 (not including shipping) no PayPal. On combined purchases totaling
over $25 then PayPal is okay. This is for the USA buyers only. The out
of country folks, PayPal will be accepted for all purchase, unless you
want to send me a US denominated money order, then that is fine. Sorry
for the inconvenience but I'm just trying to cut the costs down a bit here.
And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!
First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.
Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

Unusual Long Handled Wood Skew Rabbet Plane. Measuring 15 1/4" overall,
the sole is 11 5/16" long, 1 15/16" wide, and this weighs 2 lbs 4 1/4 oz
unboxed. The plane isn't signed as to the maker, the iron is marked
WILD. This guy came out of an auction at a farm that had been owned by
the same family since the 1750's. The style of the body and wedge are
19th Century. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
The body is beech and is good other than some light dings and stains.
The sole has some light roughness from grain tearout, left over from
when this was made. The mouth is tight and was never futzed with. The
handle is oak and is good other than some stains. The iron does have
some pitting on the cutting face and is a hair narrower than the sole
but it was made for this plane. The wedge is good. This is one of
those tools that you just do not see very often. $45.00

L & I J White Buffalo NY 10 Inch Mast Shave Draw Knife. Measuring 19
1/8" overall, the blade is 10" long, 1 3/8" wide across the edge, and
this weighs 1 lb 12 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in reasonable condition for
the age and use and was cleaned. The back of the blade has some stains
and light scuffs but nothing too bad. The edge has a few dings but this
puppy is close to sharp. The top is good with no dings. The front is has
some frosting and the mark is faint but readable. The handles are
original. They have some staining and and the right one has a chip off
the lower turning. They both are on tight. This ain't minty but it is
a quality tool. $35.00

Stearns Chair Makers Spoke Pointer For A Brace. The bell is 2 7/8" in
diameter (inside the lip), and this weighs 13 1/2 oz unboxed. This
isn't signed but the decorative casting on the bell marks this as a
Stearns. This is reasonably good shape and was cleaned. There is a
little wear to the finish. The blade is clean other than a little
frosting and there is plenty there to work with. All the screws work
and the tang which doubles as a depth stop moves. The tang has some
spots of pitting but the rulings are good. These guys sure ain't
getting any easier to find, at least around these here parts. $29.00

Uncommon Moseley Cabinet Pitch Reed or Double Bead Molding Plane.
Measuring 9 3/8" long, the iron is 1/4" wide (makes 2 beads), and this
weighs 12 1/4 oz unboxed. The Moseley family made planes in London
England over a long period of time, this plane bears the mark of John
Moseley would worked from 1809 until 1818. This is in decent condition
for being 200 years old and was cleaned. Note this is straight, any
bending you see is because of camera lens distortion. The body is good
other than some stains. The boxing has some chipping on the one edge
between the toe and mouth and there is a small gap between the two
sections between the mouth and the heel. That also has some light
dinging on the edges. The end section could stand a drop of glue at the
heel. The Hildick iron does have some light pitting at the edge but
there is plenty to work with. The wedge is good other than some light
wear. This ain't minty and it sure ain't got that kind of price tag
either but these reeding planes do not show up very often by any maker.
$30.00

Goldenberg Victorian Ball Brace. Measuring 11 3/8" overall, the sweep
is 8 1/2", the throw is 4 1/4", and this weighs 1 lb 3 3/4 oz unboxed.
Goldenberg was a French tool maker. This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. There some frosting and light pitting but
nothing too bad there. The chuck takes bits with square tangs as well
as the European style flat tang bits, which is something that you do not
see very often. The chuck is good with no cracks and the screw works.
The ball and the pad look to be beech. The ball has an old repaired
check but it's solid and turns freely. The handle is little stiff but
it does turn and there is no play on the shaft. Both have a little wear
and staining. I gotta say that this style of brace does not show up
very often in this kinda of shape and rarely do you see one that takes
both styles of bits. $32.00

Three Vintage Collectible Hardwood Cobblers Leather Creaser Seamer
Tools. The upper one is Lignum Vitae, 7 3/16" long, the middle one
looks to be rosewood, 7 3/4" long, the lower one is rosewood, 7 5/8"
long, and they weigh 10 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
These are in decent condition and were cleaned. There are some dings
and stains. The middle one has a knot hole on the side and a bunch of
needle marks. The tips have some wear and a couple have some chipping
on the sides but there is plenty there on all of them to get the job
done. I gotta say that these guys are sure getting few and far between
any more. $30.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/leathertool0402.jpg
Early Hand Forged Wheelwright Traveler. Measuring 13 9/16" long, the
wheel is 7 3/16", and this weighs 1 lb unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in reasonably good condition for the age and was
cleaned. There is some patina but nothing too bad. The wheel is good
and all the spokes are present with no cracks that I can see. There is
a little crusty inside the fork but the wheel spins freely. The handle
is good other than few flaws that are left over from when this was made.
I gotta say that it has been a long time since I last had one of these
guys and they sure ain't getting any easier to find. $65.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/wheelwrighttool0401.jpg
Three Bent Spoon Carving Tool Gouges. The upper one is a No. 25 sweep S
J Addis with the Masonic London mark, a little under 1/4" wide at the
edge and 9 5/16" overall, the middle is a No. 26 sweep, unsigned, 5/16"
wide at the edge and 9" overall, the last is a No. 28 sweep, unsigned,
1/4" wide at the edge and 8 1/2" overall, and they weigh 5 1/2 oz
unboxed. These are in reasonably good condition and were cleaned.
Inside the sweep is clean, the edges could stand a touchup. The shaft
on the one has some rasp marks left over from when the handle was
fitted. The handles on the upper and lower one have some stains but are
solid. The brass ferrule on the middle one is cracked and there are a
couple of checks in the wood under the ferrule but the blade is in
tight. These ain't minty but good carving tools seem to be few and far
between, at least around these here parts. $60.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/carvingtool0401.jpg
Vintage Small Brass Anvil Paperweight. Measuring 3 1/16" long, the face
is about 11/16" wide, this is 1 7/16" high, and this weighs 8 3/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. There are some grinder scuffs left over from when this was
made. The face has some dings, so somebody must have used this guy a
time or 3. The base is good other than a small casting flaw. This is
what it is, but it is a neat little tool. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/anvil0402.jpg
Old Brass Drafting Protractor. Measuring 3 3/4" long, 1 7/8" high, and
this weighs 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, just marked
USA. This is in reasonably good condition, the only cleaning was to take
some funky off of the back. The front has a few scuffs and stains but
nothing too bad there. All the markings are readable. The back has
some staining and scuffs as well. This ain't perfect but it's a whole
lot classier than those plastic ones. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/draftingtool0401.jpg
Early Hand Forged Workbench Plane or Planing Stop. Measuring 8 1/4"
long, 1 3/4" square, about 1 3/8" wide across the teeth, and this weighs
1 lb 2 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some rusting and pitting on the
stop which was hand forged from an old file. The teeth are good. I did
have the screw out but the end of the stop is embedded in the block.
The block is black walnut. That has some checks on the ends and dings
from being knocked in and out of the bench. I gotta say that these guys
do not show up much at all any more. $26.00

Early 2 Oz Jeweler Cross Peen Hammer. Measuring 8 5/8" overall, the
head is 2 9/16" long, the face is 1/2" in diameter, the peen is 7/16"
wide, and this weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker,
Dorothy put her name on the one side and 11.20.93 (Nov. 20, 1893) on the
other side. Pretty neat eh? This is in good shape for the age and was
cleaned. There is a little patina on the head but nothing too bad. The
face has some light dings as does the peen. The handle is hand carved
and could be the original one. That is good for the most part. I did
rewedge the head but it does wiggle a little. Just don't try pounding
framing nails with this guy and it should be okay. This is a neat tool
and I'm sure it's got a story to tell. $23.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/hammer0410.jpg
Machinist Parallel Clamp Style Hand Vise or Handvise. Measuring 7 3/16"
long, the jaws are 1 1/2" deep, 1/2" wide at the tips, and this weighs
10 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in good condition
and was lightly cleaned. There ain't nothing much patina wise to fuss
about. The jaws are good. They do have a V groove about 1/8" across at
the tips that tapers down about 2/3rds of the way down to the screw.
The screws are good as is the handle. All in all this is a well crafted
tool. $30.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/handvise0401.jpg
Western Select Adjustable Vise Woodworking Bench Stock Clamp With Box.
This weighs 5 oz unboxed. This looks to be unused and was not cleaned.
The tool is a good as they get. The box has a little wear but nothing
too bad. This is a neat tool, you screw the base to the workbench top
(screws aren't included, beg your wife for 3) and the sliding part is
used to hold smaller stock for planing or carving. This a right handy
tool to have. $23.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/vise0401.jpg
Stanley SW No 282 Cabinet Hand Scraper. This weighs 1 lb 6 3/4 oz
unboxed. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The head has
some wear to the japanning but most of it is there. The wood block that
holds the blade has some staining but it's solid. The blade, which
isn't signed, has some light frosting on the front, and a little pitting
on the back. The handle was refinished. That ain't perfect but it's a
lot better than it was. This ain't minty but these guys rarely are. $22.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/stanley2820401.jpg
Vintage Small Stanley Screwdriver. Measuring 5 7/16" long, the tip is
1/8" wide, and this weighs 3/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition,
was cleaned, and the handle repainted. There is a slight twist at the
tip but the blade was never ground down. The shaft is good. The handle
has some dings and wear. This ain't minty but most folks didn't buy
these guys just to look at them. $14.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/screwdriver0401.jpg
L S Starrett No 166 A Machinist Pin Vise. This weighs 1/2 oz unboxed.
This is in used but good condition and was not cleaned. There isn't
much in the way of patina on the head and chuck. The jaws are good. The
hard rubber handle has some light dings and stains but nothing too bad
there. The tube is clear all the way through. This ain't NOS but it
sure ain't bad. $14.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/machinisttool0409.jpg
L S Starrett No 305 6 Inch Machinist Rule With Case. This weighs 1 oz
unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was cleaned. There are
some scratches on the front but the edges and corners are good and all
the rulings are readable. The back has some staining but the table is
readable as well. The case is good with the usual light wear. This
ain't minty but it will get the job done. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/machinisttool0410.jpg
Old & Unusual Oak Wood Groove Cutting Plane With Fence. The body is 7
1/8" long, 3 1/16" wide, the fence is 7 7/8" long, the blade is 3 3/4"
wide across the edge, and this weighs 15 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as
to the maker, was user crafted. This is in reasonably good condition
and was cleaned. The body has some stains but nothing too bad. The
screws for the fence and the blade clamps all work. The blade has some
pitting on both sides. The tip of the cutout on the edge does sit down
a little and will make a mark so this was for making thin grooves in
wood. This showed up with a bunch of molding planes so it sure isn't
anything recent. $24.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/woodenscraper0401.jpg
Complete Set Vintage Hand Made 3/32 Letter Stamps With Wooden Box. This
all weighs 1 lb 10 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, they
were in a cardboard box that was pretty well trashed, but there is a
picture of the end flap at the bottom of the main picture. These are in
used but good condition and were not cleaned. Actually I really don't
think that they were used much if at all. The figures are all clear and
the striking ends are good as well. The wooden box is good, there is a
date stamped on the base but I can't read it. These do look and feel
like quality tools to my eye. $23.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/stampset0401.jpg
Old 2 3/4 Lb Blacksmith Double Face Sledge Hammer Head. Measuring 5"
long, the faces are roughly 1 1/2" in diameter, and this weighs 2 lbs 12
1/2 oz unboxed. This is signed but I can't read it. This is in well
used condition and was cleaned. THere is lots of patina going on this
guy, including some pitting and dings. Both faces have some dings and
wear and I did run a file over some sharp mushrooming in a couple of
spots. The eye is good other than some light crusty. This ain't a
pretty tool and it ain't going to be a pretty job either. $16.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/hammer0409.jpg

high, the peen is 1" wide, and this weighs 1 lb 4 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
Been used a time or ten as well. There is the usual patina found on
these tools. The face and peen have some mushrooming and I did tone
down some of the sharper spots. The handle has a bit of bend to it.
The head is on tight. This ain't no picture of perfection but these
guys sure ain't been showing up much of late, at least around here. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/earlyhammer0402.jpg
L S Starrett Machinist Center Finder Head. Measuring 3 1/4" long across
the tips and this weighs 4 oz unboxed. This one isn't signed but not
all of these were. This will fit the 12" and 18" Starrett rules as well
as the Brown & Sharpe rules of the same size. This is in used but good
condition and was cleaned. Inside the V there is some light scuffs and
stains pitting but nothing that will interfere with this guy doing it's
job. The sides are good. The black finish is original and close to
100%. There is a user name scratch marked on the one arm. The locking
screw and tab are good. This ain't minty but it sure ain't bad. $19.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/machinisttool0408.jpg

weigh 2 3/4 oz unboxed. These will fit the Yankee No 31 and 131
Automatic or push screwdrivers along with the A models. These are in
good condition, the one I cleaned was the middle one. That has a few
light spots of patina on the blade but nothing too bad. The tips and
chuck ends are good to go. These guys ain't all that easy to fit for
this model. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/yankee0401.jpg
ATHA 5 lb Stone Mason Chipping Hammer Head. Measuring 6 3/4" long, the
face is 2 1/4" high, 1 /3/16" wide, the peen is 2 5/16" high, and this
weighs 4 lbs 14 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in decent condition and was
cleaned. There is some overall patina on the body. The face is good
other than some dings around the edges. The peen was dressed at some
point and there are some dings on the edges as well. The eye has some
crusty down inside but considering how long it took me to get the old
POS handle out of the eye, well it does it's job. This ain't pretty but
it wasn't made to do a pretty job. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/hammer0406.jpg
Stanley SW Screwdriver Bit For A Brace. Measuring 4 5/16" long, the tip

long (across the center), the face is 1 3/16" square, the edge is 2"
high (straight across), and this weighs 13 oz unboxed. L A Sayre was a
Newark NJ tool maker in business from 1884 until 1916. This is in
reasonably good condition for being at the least 100 years old and was
cleaned. There really isn't much in the way of patina to fuss about
other than there is a chip off of the one side of the face. The cross
hatching on the face has some wear but there is plenty there. The edge
would need a sharpening. The eye is good other than some dings on the
top. This ain't minty but tools of this age rarely are. $18.00

Vintage Cast Iron Line Level. Measuring 3 1/2" long, 5/8" high across
the face, and this weighs 2 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.

originally and that is worn in spots so that that copper wash is
showing. The face plate is sheet iron and has some light pitting. The
clear level vial is good. The locking screw works and was oiled. This
ain't perfect but it does have some age to it. $17.00

fair, the front has some staining and a few spots. The back has some
deep rust etching at the top. The cutting face has some scuffs and few
spots of pitting at the edge. These ain't minty but it ain't like you

more. $14.00

blade is little under 1/2" wide at the widest spot, the handle is about
9/16" square, and this weighs 7 1/2 oz unboxed. There is a partial
makers mark but nothing that I can read other than the Phila mark. This
is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is some overall patina.
The blade has a slight wave to it looking from the side but nothing that
would affect this being used. The handle has some pitting and here is a
little bit of mushrooming on the end. This ain't minty but you shuck
clams all day and see how minty you look! $24.00
