262158 Anthony Seo <tonyseo@p...> 2017‑04‑10 FS: Abounding April 2017 List A
Looks like spring has finally sprung around these parts. Weather
delayed the opening of the summer flea market by a week but things are
starting to happen. Short list this time, some fresh items, including
some good machinist and collectible tools.

I'd really prefer a check for payment for all items. On items less than
$25 (not including shipping) no PayPal. On combined purchases totaling
over $25 then PayPal is okay. This is for the USA buyers only. The out
of country folks, PayPal will be accepted for all purchase, unless you
want to send me a US denominated money order, then that is fine. Sorry
for the inconvenience but I'm just trying to cut the costs down a bit here.

And remember........da more ya buy, the cheaper they fly!

First contact (that is e-mail, or phone) that says I want it gets it.
Oldtools terms, except on items and orders over $100, if I don't know ya
or haven't done business in the past (and my records good way back..)
then it's pre-pay. I do take PayPal (except as noted). Prices do not
include shipping. All items are shipped with Delivery Confirmation.
Insurance, unless it is a big order or a very fragile item is optional.
Just let me know. Also, I am shipping a lot more stuff via First Class
mail. There will be a small amount added to the shipping cover the cost
of the padded mailer. I don't get them for free.

Please put your name and address in the message. Saves time and email
traffic!

L A Sayre Newark NJ No 140 Shingle Or Lath Hatchet. The head is 6 5/8"
long (across the center), the face is 1 3/16" square, the edge is 2"
high (straight across), and this weighs 13 oz unboxed. L A Sayre was a
Newark NJ tool maker in business from 1884 until 1916. This is in
reasonably good condition for being at the least 100 years old and was
cleaned. There really isn't much in the way of patina to fuss about
other than there is a chip off of the one side of the face. The cross
hatching on the face has some wear but there is plenty there. The edge
would need a sharpening. The eye is good other than some dings on the
top. This ain't minty but tools of this age rarely are. $18.00

Timmons & Sons Hand Forged No 1 Cobblers Lasting Pliers. Measuring 6
7/8" long, 1/2" wide at the tips, and this weighs 9 1/4 oz unboxed.
Timmons & Sons were long time Sheffield England tool makers who were in
business in the 19th Century until they merged with the W Wynn firm in
the 1870's. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is
some light pitting on the head on both sides. The jaws have some crusty
down inside but the teeth still have some bite to them and they close up
tight and flush. The through the center joint is good. The hammer face
is clean. The handles are good other than the one is a little dinged on
the end. This ain't no picture of perfection but it will get the job
done. $24.00

Vintage Cast Iron Line Level. Measuring 3 1/2" long, 5/8" high across
the face, and this weighs 2 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The body was plated
originally and that is worn in spots so that that copper wash is
showing. The face plate is sheet iron and has some light pitting. The
clear level vial is good. The locking screw works and was oiled. This
ain't perfect but it does have some age to it. $17.00

Two Stanley SW Block Plane Blades. The upper one is a for a No. 102
block plane, 3 15/16" long, 1 3/8" wide, the lower one is for the No.
110 block plane, 4 5/18" long, 1 5/8" wide, and they weigh 4 1/2 oz
unboxed. The No 102 blade is in good condition, other than a little
staining and a few dots. The cutting face is good. The 110 blade is
fair, the front has some staining and a few spots. The back has some
deep rust etching at the top. The cutting face has some scuffs and few
spots of pitting at the edge. These ain't minty but it ain't like you
are going to walk into the local hardware store and buy these guys any
more. $14.00

Old Straight Jaw Hand Forged Blacksmith Tongs. Measuring 19 1/2 long,
the jaws are 1 7/8" deep, about 3/4" wide at the tips, and this weighs 3
lbs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is the usual patina. The jaws have
some checks on the outside at the tips but nothing that goes to the
inside. Inside there are some scratches. The rivet has been adjusted a
few times and there is some slop in the joint but it ain't gonna fall
apart. The handles are good other than some dings. This ain't no
picture of perfection but will get the job done. $22.00

Uncommon Stanley No 813 10 Inch Sweep Brace. This weighs 3 lbs 2 oz
unboxed. This in decent condition and was cleaned. There are some
spots on the frame where the plating is good. The chuck and jaws are
good. The ratchet works in both directions and the locked position.
The grip and pad are wood and both have some dings to the original
finish and a few spots of paint that didn't want to come off without a
fight. This ain't the prettiest but these guys sure don't show up very
often and outside of the Yankee braces, are considered the best brace
that Stanley made. $26.00

L S Starrett No 79 Yankee 6 Inch Outside Caliper With Box. Measuring 7"
long (Starrett's idea of 6") and this weighs 5 oz unboxed. This is in
lightly used but good condition and was not cleaned. There are a few
spots of patina, mainly on the nut and the ball at the end of the screw,
and some light scuffs but nothing too bad. There is a user name on the
back. The joint and tips are good. The box (which originally had 3 in
there but only one made the trip) is good with just some minor wear.
This ain't pristine but it sure ain't bad. $20.00

L S Starrett No 26 Machinist Firm Joint 6 Inch Outside Caliper.
Measuring 6 3/8" long and this all weighs 2 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in
lightly used but good condition and was not cleaned. There are a few
spots of patina and some light scuffs but nothing too bad. There are
user initials on the back. The joint and tips are good. This ain't
minty but it sure ain't bad either. $17.00

Brown & Sharp Machinist No 590A Telescoping Gage or Gauge. Measuring 4
5/16" high, 3 5/8" wide when fully extended, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz
unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was not cleaned. There
is some light shop wear but nothing too bad. The locking screw works
and the handle removes. There ain't a whole lot more to fuss about. $16.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/machinisttool0406.jpg

Old B S V Co Chairmakers Adjustable Hollow Auger For A Brace. This
weighs 1 lb 5 1/4 oz unboxed. I don't have any information on this
maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The finish on the
body is original but there is some wear. The hole plate has one spot of
patina and a little patina down in the holes. The blade does have some
pitting on both sides. If you put a knife edge on it rather than a
chisel style edge that shouldn't be a problem. All the screws work and
were oiled. The screws that hold the blade don't back all the way out
because the tips are flattened. There is no depth stop but then real
men don't need no stinking depth stops. The tang has some wear to the
edges but that is good to go. This ain't pristine but it will get the
job done. Note: This will be shipped in kit form. $26.00

Riverside 1 9/16 Inch Socket Gouge. Measuring 9 7/16" from the edge to
the end of the socket, the blade is 5 7/8" long, 1 9/16" wide across the
outside of the sweep, this is 14 7/8" overall, and this weighs 13 1/2 oz
unboxed. Riverside was one of the brand names used by Montgomery Ward &
Co. on their tools. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. There
are some spots of light pitting inside the sweep and a few deeper dots.
The back has some lightly pitted areas as well. The socket was never
hit but there is a little chipping where the socket was welded to the
blade tang on the back. That won't be a concern unless you start using
this guy as a pry bar. The socket also has some small spots of pitting.
The handle is a NOS replacement from my personal stash here (and they
sure don't get here for free either!) This ain't no picture of
perfection but it will get the job done. $19.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/chisel0401.jpg

Old Hand Forged Oyster Or Clam Shucking Knife. Measuring 8" long, the
blade is little under 1/2" wide at the widest spot, the handle is about
9/16" square, and this weighs 7 1/2 oz unboxed. There is a partial
makers mark but nothing that I can read other than the Phila mark. This
is in decent condition and was cleaned. THere is some overall patina.
The blade has a slight wave to it looking from the side but nothing that
would affect this being used. The handle has some pitting and here is a
little bit of mushrooming on the end. This ain't minty but you shuck
clams all day and see how minty you look! $24.00

18th Century Early Hand Forged Square Eye Cobblers Hammer Head.
Measuring 3 7/8" long (straight across the underside), the face is
roughly 1 3/4" in diameter, the peen is 1 13/16 wide, and this weighs 11
1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some overall patina but no real
faults like most of these that I have been seeing. The face has some
dings and is slightly crowned from wear (convex) but no cracks that I
can see. The peen does have some mushrooming on both the top and
underside. The square eye is good. Like I say, I ain't been seeing too
many of these guys around and the ones that I have been, were pretty
rough compared to this one. $30.00

Tiny Early Vintage 1 1/2 Oz Brass Plumb Bob. Measuring 2 1/4" long
overall, the body is 1 7/8 long, 3/4" in diameter, and this weighs 1 1/2
oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. There are some stained spots on the body and
a few dings. The tip is bent a little. The original string cap is
missing, just the threaded iron insert is there. That is enough to hold
a string in place (this did have string when it got here). This ain't
perfect but these tiny ones are sure few and far between. $30.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/plumbbob0402.jpg

Stanley No 20 Countersink Bit For A Brace. Measuring 4 1/16" long, the
head is 7/8" in diameter, and this weighs 1 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in
used but good condition and was cleaned. There is a little patina but
this guy has almost all of the plating. The edge is sharp, at least to
the touch. There is a user name lightly engraved on the shaft. The
tang has a few dings but nothing too bad. This ain't pristine but it's
better than most of these that I have been seeing of late. $15.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/bracetool0401.jpg

Old 4 oz Ball Peen Hammer. Measuring 11 1/4" overall, the head is 2
1/2" long, the face is 5/8" in diameter, the peen is also 5/8" in
diameter, and this weighs 4 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker.
This is in fair condition cosmetically was cleaned. There is some
pitting, mainly on the one side of the head. The peen is good. The
face has some light pitting and dings but nothing too bad there. The
handle looks to be the original one. That has some stains and dings and
there is a burn mark on the lower end but it feels solid enough,
(although I won't recommend pounding framing nails with this guy!) The
head is on tight setting here but things do loosen up in shipping. This
ain't the prettiest but it does have some age to it. $15.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/hammer0401.jpg

Brass Head 1 3/4 Lb Double Face Hammer. Measuring 12 9/16" overall, the
head is 4" long, the faces are 1 7/16" in diameter, and this weighs 1 lb
13 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. The head has a few tiny dings on the sides.
The faces have some dings but most of those could be dressed down with a
few minutes of furious filing. The handle has some stains and dings but
it's solid. The head is on tight setting here but things do loosen up
in shipping. This ain't perfect but as most brass hammers go these
days, this one sure ain't bad and these heavier ones sure ain't been
showing up much of late. $22.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/hammer0402.jpg

Keuffel & Esser No 6471-6 6 oz Brass Plumb Bob With Box. This all
weighs 6 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was
cleaned. The bob has some red staining on the body and a few dings.
The steel tip is good. The string cap removes. The box has the usual
wear but it's solid. This ain't perfect but considering the age, well
it sure ain't bad either. $20.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/april/plumbbob0401.jpg

Early Hand Forged Pipe Coal Tongs. Measuring 10 3/8" long, the jaws are
about 3/4" wide, and this weighs 10 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in reasonably good condition for the age and was
cleaned. There is some overall patina. The jaws are good. The joint
is good as well with no wiggle. The handles have some light pitting but
are solid. I gotta say that these guys do not show up very often. $32.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/hfcoaltongs0301.jpg

Vintage Gun Makers Hand Vise or Handvise. Measuring 4" long, the jaws
are 1 1/4" wide, and this weighs 8 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. There
ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about, other than some shop
crusty on the insides of the arms. The jaws have some light dings on
the top. They close up almost flush on the top and side to side. The
cross hatching on the faces has some wear but it's there. The screw
head looks like it was reforged at some point and the threads have some
light dings. The nut is good and it holds. The spring and joint are
good as well. This ain't perfect but it does have some age to it and it
sure ain't bad either. $29.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/handvise0301.jpg

Early Hand Forged Denglestock PA Dutch Scythe Sharpening Anvil.
Measuring 7 1/2" long, the face is 1 1/4" wide, and this weighs 13 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. Now what's a denglestock (also
spelled dengelstock and a bunch of other ways as well), you ask? Well
them old PA Dutch (German) farmers, being of a thrifty (also know as
cheap) bunch, instead of grinding down their scythe blades, would stick
the denglestock into a stump or the top of a fence post and using a
cross peen hammer (called the dengle of all things) would draw out the
edge of the blade till it was sharp and then dress it with a stone.
Pretty neat eh? This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned.
There ain't much in the way of patina other than some dings on the one
side of the head. The face is good, there is a whisker of mushrooming
around the edge. The spike is good. All in all, for the kinda of work
that this guy was made to do, it sure ain't bad. $26.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/denglestock0302.jpg

Thos Ibbotson Sheffield 1 5/16 Inch Single Iron. Measuring 5 1/2" long,
1 5/16" wide across the edge, and this weighs 3 1/2 oz unboxed. Thomas
Ibbotson & Co. was a Sheffield England tool maker in business from 1833
until 1905. This is in good condition overall, it had been cleaned
previously, but I did a touchup. Note: this is a tapered iron, about
5/32" thick at the edge. The cutting face is good other than some light
frosting. The edge is slightly rounded but it will need a sharpening
anyway. The wrought iron body has some roughness, including a chip off
of the one side, but that wasn't finished very pretty like to start
with. This would be a good iron to use in either a scrub plane or a
chamfer plane, and this size rarely shows up. $16.00

Five Vintage Square Shaft Bits For A Brace Or Bitstock. The upper one
is an H & R Boker center point bit, measuring 3 7/8" long, the cut is
9/16" in diameter (from the point to the outside of the spur), next is a
Ward, 4 1/16" long, the cut is 5/8" in diameter, the middle one is
Diamond S marked 5/16" turnscrew bit, 4 3/8" long, the fourth is an
unmarked wood countersink bit 3 7/8" long, the cut is 1/2" in diameter,
the last one is a square tapered reamer just marked Cast Steel, 6" long,
3/8" square at the widest spot, and they weigh 6 3/4 oz unboxed. These
are all in decent condition and were cleaned. Note these are straight,
any bending you see is because of camera lens distortion. There are
some spots of patina but nothing too bad. The cutters and spurs on both
of the center point bits will need a little touchup. The tip of the
turnscrew bit was dressed at some point but that is good to go. The
countersink bit isn't shaving sharp but it's not too bad in that
department. The edges on the reamer are good except for an area down by
the tang. I did take a little mushrooming off of a couple of the tang
ends but they are good to go. These ain't pristine but there ain't too
many of these guys showing up any more that are. $20.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/bracetool0307.jpg

Millers Falls Machinist 9 Inch Outside Caliper. Measuring 9" long and
this weighs 5 oz unboxed. This is in used but good condition and was
cleaned. There is a little frosting on the arms and user initials
marked on the one. The tips are good. The screw threads and nut are
good and the spring is springy. There ain't a whole lot more to fuss
about and this is a quality tool to say the least. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/divider0303.jpg

Vacuum Grip Snap On No 105 Slip Joint 5 Inch Pliers. Measuring 5" long
and this weighs 1 3/4 oz unboxed. This is in used but reasonably good
condition and was cleaned. There are some areas of light patina, mainly
on the sides of the arms. The jaws have some light dings but they are
good to go. The joint is good. This ain't pristine but it sure ain't
bad either. $18.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/pliers0303.jpg

Stortz Philadelphia Old Wood Handle Fid or Marlinspike. Measuring 9
3/4" long and this weighs 5 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some light pitting on the blade and
shaft. The ferrule also has some patina. The handle has some checks
and wear at the end. The washer at the end that is peened to the tang
of the blade is a bit banged up as well. Stuff happens when you get
old. This ain't pretty or perfect but these guys sure don't show up
every day. $17.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/fid0301.jpg

M & M Patent 1900 Staple Puller & Fencing Pliers. Measuring 10 3/8"
long and this weighs 1 lb 6 1/2 oz unboxed. George D. and Lynn C.
Maxson of Edmeston, NY were granted Pat. No. 650,186 on May 22, 1900 for
the design of this tool. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is some overall patina but let's face it, fencing ain't exactly an
indoor sport (been there, done that!) The jaws are good for the most
part, there is some crusty down inside that I couldn't get to with the
cleaning machine. I did oil the joint because it was a bit squeeky.
The handles have some file or chisel marks, my guess is that they are
user added rulings of some kind. The one handle is a little bent. This
ain't pretty or perfect but it wasn't made to do a pretty job either.
$25.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/fencingtool0301.jpg

Early Hand Forged Broad Or Hewing Hatchet Or Axe Head. The head is 5
1/4" long (across the center), the edge is 3 5/16" high (straight
across), and this weighs 1 lb 11 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the
maker. It does not look like a reforged hammer head. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. There is some overall light patina.
The back has some light pitting and scuffs. The edge has some dings but
that will need a sharpening. The hammer poll has a little mushrooming.
The punched eye is good other than a little crusty. This ain't minty
but it does have some age to it. $30.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/earlyaxe0301.jpg

Early Hand Forged 1 1/2 Inch Butt or Buttonhole Chisel. Measuring 4
3/8" from the edge to the top of the handle, the blade is 2 3/16" long,
this is 7 9/16" overall, and this weighs 5 1/2 oz unboxed. Not signed
as to the maker. I'm thinking that this is a wide buttonhole chisel
looking at the way that the blade is made and the shape of the handle.
This is in fair condition overall. Someone else did a powerwash on the
blade and left some noticeable scuffs. I toned that down a bit but it's
still visible. There is some pitting on both sides of the blade. The
edge would need a sharpening. The handle is good other than some
stains. This is far from perfect but these guys sure do not show up
every day, week, or month. $32.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/feb/earlychisel0201.jpg

Lion Brand No 501 Yankee Cutlery Fancy Handle Straight Razor. The blade
is 3 13/16" long across the edge (straight across), 5/8" wide (a little
less at the tip), and this weighs 1 1/4 oz unboxed. This is in decent
condition overall and was cleaned. The blade has some wear and frosting
on both sides. The edge has some tiny dings and will need a sharpening.
The blade is magnatized as it says on the back tang. There is some
crusty under the joint. The fancy handle looks to be celluloid. That
has some stains and light scratches. This ain't minty but these guys
sure don't show up very often. $25.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/jan/razor0102.jpg

Old Hand Forged Farriers Clinch Cutter. Measuring 6 1/2" long, the
blade is 1 7/16" wide across the edge, and this weighs 7 oz unboxed.
This was forged from an old file or rasp and still has the file maker's
mark on it, which usually get's lost when these guys are forged. This
is in decent condition and was cleaned. There is the usual patina found
on these items. The blades aren't sharp but they ain't too bad. The
small one, rather than being a punch, has a gouge shape, which is
uncommon. There is some mushrooming on top of both blades and a little
on the handle. This is a neat example of this kind of tool and these
kind of items are a very underappreciated folk art form. $24.00

Early Hand Forged PA Dutch Dough Scraper. Measuring 4 1/8" long
(straight across). the blade is 4 1/8" wide, and this weighs 8 1/4 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and
was cleaned. The blade has pitting on both sides. There is a ding on
the one corner. The handle is hollow and was plugged at some point in
time. The handle has some light patina and you can see the forge weld
seam on the side but it's solid. These guys sure ain't been showing up
much around here. $30.00

Neat Old Offset Blade Carving Tool Clean Out Chisel. Measuring 6 1/8"
overall, the blade is 9/16" long, 1/4" wide, and this weighs 1 oz
unboxed. Not signed as to the maker, it looks to be user crafted. This
is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The blade is good and
sharp. The shaft has some scuff marks left over from when this was
made. The handle is rosewood. That is good other than some light dings
around the turning. This is what it is, but this is handy tool to say
the least. $14.00
http://www.oldetoolshop.com/forsale/mar/carvingtool0301.jpg

Vintage 3/8 Inch Skew Carving Tool Chisel. Measuring 7 9/16" overall,
the blade is 3 1/2" from the tip to the start of the handle, and this
weighs 1 3/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent
condition and was cleaned. There is some light pitting on both sides of
the blade but since this get's sharpened to a knife edge that won't be a
problem. The handle has some checks at the top but the blade is in
tight. This ain't pretty but it will get the job done. $14.00

Vintage Cast Iron Cross Cut Saw Setting Bar Tool or Wrest. Measuring 7"
long, roughly 3/4" squaure, and this weighs 8 3/4 oz unboxed. Not
signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned.
There is some patina, the sides have some roughness but I don't think
that they were finished off real pretty to start with. The setting
teeth are good. There is some light crusty down inside the groove.
This is what it is but it is a working tool. $15.00

Footprint Sheffield 9 Inch Cabinet Makers Try Square. The blade is 9
1/8" long, this is 10 15/16" overall in length, 6 3/4" high, and this
weighs 11 1/2 oz unboxed. This is in used but reasonably good
condition and was lightly cleaned. There is a patch of light rust on
the front of the blade and some scratches. There is a small patch on
the back by the handle and a few dots. The handle is good other than a
few dings. I did take some funky off of the brass face. This ain't
perfect and sure ain't got the price of a new one either. $27.00

Two Long J T Pugh Auger Brace Bits. There is a No 12, 3/4" cut
measuring 17 11/16" long, a No 17, 1 1/16" cut measuring 18 1/2" long,
and they weigh 1 lb 9 oz unboxed. J T Pugh was a Philadelphia PA auger
bit maker in business from the 1870's until the early part of the
Twentieth Century. The mark on the No. 12 is faint but there is enough
to make the call. These are in reasonably good condition and were
cleaned. There ain't much in the way of patina to fuss about. The lead
screw on the No. 12 is good but the cutters could stand a sharpening.
The tip of the lead screw has some wear but after that it is good and
the cutters are sharp. Both tangs have some dings and light wear.
These ain't perfect but they sure ain't bad and that No. 17 sure does
not show up very often. $25.00

This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The blade has
some spots of light pitting and rust etching. All the teeth are present
but it will need a sharpening. There is a very slight wave (1/32")
along the edge. The tote is beech. That has some dings and stains but
nothing too bad. That has the original finish plus a coat of wax. I
did not have it off of the tool. This ain't pristine but these guys
