262057 Gary Maze <emmasdaddy45@g...> 2017‑03‑24 Odd back saw
Since no one has posted to the list all day I thought it would be a good
time to show a saw I picked up at a garage sale last summer.

As you can see it looks like a regular toolbox saw, but it has a back that
was obviously not a homemade piece. The handle is a normal size handle, but
no medallion or maker Identification anywhere.

Has anyone seen something like this before? I am not sure how useful it
would be with a back that would obviously limit the depth of cut.

Yes I did pay 25 cents for it, the seller had it on a junk table

Gary,

Tell us about the teeth: Crosscut or Rip ? Pitch? Are they all the same pitch?
(Hard to tell in the photo, but it looks like there are some finer "starting"
teeth at the heel of the blade.)

Split nuts?

Anything stamped on the back? Have you tried to "raise an etch?"

There's something stamped into the wood of the handle: An ownership mark ?

Certainly a very curious saw. You've already gotten two bits worth of oldtooling
fun out of it!
