To pile on with oil stone information:
I have found that motor oil ends up depositing a waxy clog to the 
stone's surface  after some time.  So I tried a can of cheap store 
brand  Tranny Fluid which is highly detergent and the problem went away 
and the fluid cleaned up my stones.
Mineral oil is nice too.
