18757 Nicholas J Tune <manutius@m...> 1997‑05‑21 Yet another Long Overdue bio
Greetings gentle Galoots,
I guess I've lurked around the porch long enough to finally step up and
introduce myself. My name is Nick Tune (some of you would remeber my
brother Andrew's discourse on sending tools to the other side of the
world and 'commando' tactics for buying tools at markets). I'm 30 years
old , married with two kids.
Galootism is a trait in my family that almost skipped a generation - my
grandfather ran a french polishing and furniture making factory however
my father never had the time to make anywhere near enough shavings (do
any of us ?). Recently however (12mths or so) I have been gripped by a
desire to produce shavings myself and so I have found myself cruising
the markets with my brother, wrenching tools from the suprised hands of
stall holders (hopefully for less than they expected). So now my plane
irons and chisels gleam from being scary sharpened (not too much blood
spilt yet)and I am preparing to take the plunge and start the first of
many projects.
I've been digesting oldtools digests for about two months now and have
always been impressed with the honesty and humour that you guys display.
I'm sure that you will hear from me in the future.
