Hi all,

Found this great spot via Todd Kissam. Enjoying it already!

I am former corporate-world person who jumped off the cliff and became a
professional woodworker back in 1980. Learned the basics at Leeds Design
Workshop in Easthampton MA in an apprentice program with David Powell ... a
great Englishman who is related to the famous Barnsley family, worked in
their shops, and even made pieces for Windsor Castle before coming to the
States in the 60's. We worked hand-tools-only for the first 8 months ...
lots of blood & sweat. But I came away with the knowledge that you need to
be able to work with hand tools to be able to fully understand what
functions you're asking a power tool to duplicate. I made a pretty good
living at it for a number of years, but have been home with my daughter &
computer for the last 5 years. At the moment, most of my tools are packed to
the ceiling in storage. I am a member of various antique tool organizations
and attend many events to buy and sell. Antique tools represent a different
time and way of working to me .... and the people I've met in the "tool
world" are the best!! Glad to be aboard.

Cheers,
David
