Now that the auction has ended, I'm curious what these are for: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=500993508&ed=975271466 They have an awfully deep profile. Are these for large sculpture? -- Scott Post sepost@h... http://members.home.net/sepost

Are these for large sculpture? > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- These are in fact Leather Tools, and specifically Book Binders Gouges. In Salaman book,Dictionary of Leather Working Tools, c.1790-1950 he shows this tool on page 5 , in his chapter on book binding tools, and has this to say about them...." a handled "stamp" made in sets to imprint a range of arcs of different radii....", I guess sort of like the more common pinking irons used by saddle makers and other leather workers except of lighter construction and with a smooth edge instead of scalloped or zig zag.......Todd, who wonders if leather workers every confuse wood working tools for leather tools?
