64104 Louis Michaud <louis_michaud@U.. Jun-16-1999 S.B.S knuckle joint cap plane ID

GG,

Thought I had picked up a Stanley #18 Type 1. When I got home
and cleaned off the usual gunk I couldn't find a mark anywhere!
The 2 piece knuckle joint cap is exactly like the #18 T1 in
Patrick's B&G. The plane is 6 1/4 in. long and the blade is
1 5/8 wide. The body seems to be a copy of the #18. The knob
and depth adjusting nut (nickel plated) have the same threads
the 9 1/2 I have.
The only difference is the mouth adjusting eccentric lever.
On this block plane, it is anchored (rotates around) by the knob.
The elongated slot glides around a fixed pin where the anchor pin
hole is located on the Stanley models. The front tab of the lever
is turned upwards.
The iron is stamped S B S in an arched pattern. The 2 Ss are bigger
than the B. Underneath is something starting with: SI....not sure
about the I.

Any help in identifying would be appreciated.

If there is a Type 1 knuckle joint cap collector out there
consider this a troll for a Type 2 #18 trade.

Bon rabotage,
Louis Michaud

My guess would be Siegley.
