64076 scott grandstaff <scottg@s...> Jun-15-1999 J. E. Davidson - Infill??

Hello Galoots
I just took posession of my first infill plane. A yuppie bastard at
long last! It's been so long I'm not sure if I even qualify. The
nickname seems to have fallen from fashion and I imagine some of the
newer members among us don't even understand.
Some things come easy. Easy come, easy go. This was not one of
them.
It came to me from Austrailia. It is small, 6 1/2". The wooden
parts are marked three times with the J E Davidson stamp. It would
seem to be early as it closely resembles a regular wooden smooth plane
in style. It has a Mathieson blade in it, but I don't think it's
original. It is about 1/8" narrower than the cap iron. It weighs
nearly 4 pounds. The body is solid cast or wrought steel.
I, of course would like to know anything anyone knows or even
suspects about this plane.
  FOYBIPO - I'm home
    yours, Scott
