More realistic than it might sound. Rodney Myrvaagnes,
who chimes in once in a while, lives in a smallish apartment
with his spouse and one of the more extensive coll--uh,
toolkits I've heard discussed. But he displays them, using
the larger, more unique pieces as a decorating theme of
sorts, so I hear. (How else do you explain to the neighbors
why you have a cooper's plane in your apartment?
I seems quite possible to put a little work into wall-hanging
or free-standing display cases, show off your really good
stuff, and stash the rest under the bed. Not only would it be
much safer than in storage, but you could enjoy the
appearance of it, and it all would be right there when you
had the urge to cover the kitchen table, rig up some clamps
and do something creative. (like build another display case.)
That last would be my bit of drive-by advice. Having once
been just-separated, I'd suggest you arrange it so that your
favorite things and pastimes are nearby, not waiting in
storage or "put away" somewhere. Even if it seems odd,
if you enjoy your tools, keep them with you for a little while.
