GG's;

Well, the wife and I are separated (she's in the house of course) very
likely to get divorced and I'm stuck in a tiny apartment. (Not that you
asked, but the reason for the split is that I _really_ want kids, and she
doesn't).

Likely to stay in an apartment of some kind for the foreseeable future,
while I decide if I stay here in Wisconsin or head back to California where
all my family and friends are.

So, what to do with the tools? Now stop that! Get back, get away (picking up
a chair and fending off eager Porch denizens offering to take my type 1
#112, my #608C, #46, #604, #95 and the rest and "store" them for me).

I'm probably going to get a storage unit, put the planes in a wood trunk I
have, and wrap everything in newspaper and bubblewrap to keep the tools from
banging into each other. And so forth once the trunk is full, using
cardboard boxes.

Should I throw in a bunch of dessicant packs? It gets mighty humid here
(starting about now) and I don't know if dessicant packs will 'overload' and
start oozing silica gel all over my nice user tools (yep, every one's a
user, that's right!).

There is a good chance that the tools will have to stay in storage through a
winter, which ought not to be as hard on them as a humid summer, from what I
gather, although I guess any wood planes ought to have the wedges loosened
to keep the wood from contracting onto the iron and splitting out the plane
body. Especially that 32" woody jointer, that one has a tight iron
already...

Suggestions welcome!
