Galoots,
Picked up a very rusty Spear & Jackson nibbed saw with split
nuts in one of those $1 box lots on the weekend. The auctioneer
was on the verge of waving the box into the 'oblivion' pile and
I yelled "Buck!" and he yells "Sold!". Anyways, about the saw:
It's got *weird* teeth, like, um, like this:
____ ______ ____

(Note there is some vertical exaggeration due to the innate
innacuracy of Ascii Art)
Is this a proper tooth pattern, or was the guy who sharpened
this saw insane? This would probably have been a very nice
saw when it was unweathered, but alas, I fear it is now just
'shop filler'. It was worth the buck just to keep it out of
the hands of the saw painters. At the very least this saw now
has a chance to be clean & sharp and hangin' in a shop, treated
as a tool and perhaps pulled out and run through some wood
once in a while.
Darrell
like I got *time* for rehabbing yet-another-rusty-saw

And I do have some old kinked saws around for just that purpose, but this here one is still pretty straight, and might just clean up nice enough to see some use. 'Tho a nibbed scraper might be interesting ;^) | |||
