I have scanned through _Old Ways of Working Wood_ at the library
(don't have my own copy to refer to).  It is not the one I was
thinking of.  But now I'm not sure if the one I had in mind was Bealer's
or maybe one by Drew Langsner (sp?).  I know I made a photocopy of
the humanpowered lathe chapters from _Old Ways of Working Wood_ and
one other book.  If we're lucky, I annotated the copy w/ the book's
title and author.  Now if I could just find that photocopy...
