David: Don't expect to find many "old tools" for sale anywhere.  But, do
visit Troyes which is SW of Paris off route A-5 .  You must visit the
Museum of Tools & Crafts in the  Hotel de Mauroy at 7 Trinity Street
(right in the middle of town).  It's open every day of the year fron 9-12
hrs and 14-18 hrs.  The tools are largely 18th C tools marvelously
displayed.  (Especially see the "anvil display"!).  You won't regret
going--everyone I know that has visited has anything but raves over
it!!!!!
Be sure to allow a full day to visit it, or slightly more.
