Hi Tom-

I used the plans in the back of Aldren W. Watson's "Hand Tools,
their ways and workings" with good success, and I'm a rank
beginner at this stuff.

However, I use mine mostly to square end grain, not for jointing.

One thing- make sure that the plane you are using is square to the
bottom on the side that slides on the board.  I know it's obvious, but I
know at least one person that forgot about this...
