These would be about 4% silver. I've used Stay Brite a lot, good stuff.
Stronger than normal lead/tin.

Another is Tix Solder hyped as "the strongest soft solder on earth melts @
275 F 4300lbs psi holding strength". Available at jewelry suppliers. I've
never used it YMMV.

Mc Master Carr

stocks a wide array of solders (not Tix) and lists the temps.

FWIW...What's commonly referred to as silver soldering is a misnomer; it's
brazing. For this purpose "silver solder" has between 35 and 56% Ag, NO
Lead or Tin. Melts between 1145 and 1365 F depending on alloy.
Brass solder flows at 1500 F

Note that the entire surface to be joined must be at the melting
temperature for a good joint. If one object has a lot of mass this gets
very interesting if your brazing. Not so bad with Stay Brite and the like,
still massive objects take a long time to cool down from 400 degrees DAMHIKT.

I have a question. I've seen planes that were brazed or welded. Anyone know
what is used for flux and solder? I ask since iron wire is used to tie
stuff together when silver soldering (brazing) cause the solder won't stick
to it.
