your workbench(es).

I plan to build an assembly for my new shop. It will be 3' wide by
5' long and will be 2' high. I will use 4x4 legs and 2x6 aprons with
2 layers of 3/4" plywood for the top and a wear surface of 1/4" tempered
hardboard. I plan to have "dog holes" spaced 6" on center so I can bolt
assembly fixtures to the top. These fixtures provide a vertical
clamping surface so I can assemble casework without needing eight hands.

I will also hinge 2x8 pieces to the longitudinal aprons. These pieces
will have semicircular notches on the top edge. When raised into place
these pieces will extend slightly above the table surface and will
provide a cradle for pipe clamps, thus turning the assembly table into a
panel glue-up table.
