This is typical of a lot of wooden planes and can be a problem when they
get too tight.  I take a chisel (gasp, shock, horror from the crowd), and
holding it about an 85 degree angle to the wedge, lightly, I said, lightly,
scrape the wedge sides (just in the area where it appears to be sticking)
enough so that they slide in without too much resistance.  Maybe 3 to 5
scrapes at most.
