Unless wood shavings act similarly to a carpeted floor. Ever worked
on something and dropped a small part onto carpet? You can search
for hours because the part has somehow managed to bounce way out
of the normal range of bouncing parts. Something about the spring
of twisted carpet fibers, I suppose.

I've finally learned that when something is about to drop on the carpet
floor, I'd better get my face down there and follow it to the ground.
