Hello Galoots,

Some time ago I bought a large box of carving tools sight unseen. You and some
others helped me figure out this is almost certainly the professional set of a
tradesman who carved signs.

Very few have makers stamps on them, and the set came with several cast blanks,
as well as the fixings to make brass ferrules.....so I believe all of them are
hand forged. Most have what appear to be 18th or 19th century palm handles. Some
the handles were too far gone to save and have octagons I made from old stair
balusters. All were either vinegar soaked or electrolyzed depending on how thick
the rust was on the tang. No provenance, no museum pieces . . .

And there are more of them than I will use in 10 lifetimes.

If anyone has any interest, ping me please. What I don't sell here I offload on
the Bay this fall.

Let me know what sizes and profiles interest you. I have many tiny little
gouges, some as small as 1/32 (?) up through maybe 3/8. Five bucks a pop, less
if you buy more. Galoot terms, only I prefer PayPal to checks.

Can send you some pictures directly, outside the listserv, if you're interested
please email me.

Mark.

Ps trades considered, especially if you've got a huge brace, or any tool used in
converting trees to boards (froe, hewing or splitting hatchet, etc)
