This popped up on reddit. Can anyone here identify it? Especially the lateral
lever pivot, but lots of small things I just don't recognize.

Unusual frog and reddit. How fortuitous.

Reddit, reddit.

After a bit of poking around on giggle image search,
I’d say it looks like an old Sargent.

Heckel’s book lists two Sargent patents for lateral levers
(besides Shaw’s patent, which isn’t relevant here):

ht
tp://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=445792&type=

ht
tp://www.datamp.org/patents/displayPatent.php?number=445793&type=

Of these, the second is most likely, since Datamp says the
first was only used in 1891 on the Sargent 3400 transitionals.

hope that helps,
Adam

That is a Sargent frog. The 409 and 41 (something) cast into the
underside of the frog is the giveaway.

The picture of the back of the lever cap also looks like it has a number
cast at the bottom but that doesn't come through very clear.

This is definitely a Frankenplane....

Tony (let's just say I've seen my share....)
