253739 "John M Johnston (jmjhnstn)" <jmjhnstn@m...> 2015‑02‑26 Handles R Us
Galoots Assembled,
A while back there was a thread about tool handles and someone posted a
link to a business that had handles for just about everything. I need to get a
replacement handle for my 3/4 Hudson Bay cruiser axe and I'm sure they've got
one.

Anyone recall the name of that business?

Thank you,
John

A lot of axe junkies I know like https://www.househandle.com.">https://www.househandle.com. They even
ask
them to pick one out with good grain orientation.

Oh! I just remembered…. I ordered a handle for my Pulaski, and the price was
something like $12. Wonderful handle. But the Post Office charged another $12
for postage.

My suggestion: Order extra handles for other tools at the same time because they
are cheap, and won’t add much to the postage charge.

John, Kirk Eppler ordered handles for me and a couple of his other friends
from House Handle Co. (https://www.househandle.com/">https://www.househandle.com/). All are
excellent
wood, and very inexpensive, when shipped as a group of handles. One at a
time is a bit pricey for shipping.

Galoots Assembled,

Many thanks to those who quickly supplied the name of House Handles which
presents me with a bewildering selection. While I did not find a description or
profile of a handle for a Hudson Bay axe head , I think that by measuring the
eye (and weighing the head?) I should be able to figure out the right handle to
order. I'll probably pick up a hammer handle or two, as well as a sledge hammer
handle. This is a great company; It would be neat to see the handle lathes in
action.

Again, thank you all.

John

Yep, although the handle that's on it now (and other's I've seen) is not a
straight handle, but is a traditional curved handle. I thought I might take
measurements and photos and send it to House Handles to see what they recommend.
