Galoots Assembled, A while back there was a thread about tool handles and someone posted a link to a business that had handles for just about everything. I need to get a replacement handle for my 3/4 Hudson Bay cruiser axe and I'm sure they've got one. Anyone recall the name of that business? Thank you, John John M. Johnston "P.S. If you do not receive this, of course it must have been miscarried; therefore I beg you to write and let me know." - Sir Boyle Roche, M.P. |

A lot of axe junkies I know like https://www.househandle.com.">https://www.househandle.com. They even ask them to pick one out with good grain orientation. Oh! I just remembered…. I ordered a handle for my Pulaski, and the price was something like $12. Wonderful handle. But the Post Office charged another $12 for postage. My suggestion: Order extra handles for other tools at the same time because they are cheap, and won’t add much to the postage charge. On Feb 25, 2015, at 4:25 PM, John M Johnston (jmjhnstn) |

John, Kirk Eppler ordered handles for me and a couple of his other friends from House Handle Co. (https://www.househandle.com/">https://www.househandle.com/). All are excellent wood, and very inexpensive, when shipped as a group of handles. One at a time is a bit pricey for shipping. Galoots Assembled, Many thanks to those who quickly supplied the name of House Handles which presents me with a bewildering selection. While I did not find a description or profile of a handle for a Hudson Bay axe head , I think that by measuring the eye (and weighing the head?) I should be able to figure out the right handle to order. I'll probably pick up a hammer handle or two, as well as a sledge hammer handle. This is a great company; It would be neat to see the handle lathes in action. Again, thank you all. John John M. Johnston "P.S. Yep, although the handle that's on it now (and other's I've seen) is not a straight handle, but is a traditional curved handle. I thought I might take measurements and photos and send it to House Handles to see what they recommend. J~ John M. Johnston John, did you see the "cruiser" handle? |
