GG, http://flic.kr/p/ogaaJW It is labeled a "stove hammer". It is some type of adze, but I cannot find a reference in my usual printed sources. Thoughts about usage or proper name? A friend had it in their booth and was asking $35. Champ Herren Marshfield, Mo |

I passed on one at the flea this weekend for $15. The body and handle were good but the steel bit was down to the last 1/8" of life...sigh Tony (good ones are getting hard to find) Olde River Hard Goods http://www.oldetoolshop.com">http://www.oldetoolshop.com TSMusic on Facebook http://www.facebo ok.com/tonyseomusic |

Tony's got it -- just about the definitive example of a cooper's adz. A little more specific, an English or American cooper's adz. Those used on the Continent share the curve and short handle, but are otherwise rather different. Mike in Sacto |
