249472 Champ Herren <champherren3@g...> 2014‑07‑25 Scarey Sharp question.
GG,

This week my glazier buddy got me a piece of heavy glass. So last night
GIT Kenny and I made a few practice runs with some plane blades and some
chisels.

In order to avoid accidents we placed four cleats on our roll top
mini-bench and set the glass with in. However this is somewhat unhandy
when it comes to lapping the backs due to negotiating the handles. My
thoughts were to permanently mount the glass to some OSB. This would allow
for maximum flexibility and mobility. Do ya'll agree? If so what adhesive
to use?

On a funny note one of the neighborhood kids rode up on his bike and asked
Kenny if he wanted to go go play? Kenny shook his head, glanced at me and
replied, "I have to get the blades of these transitional planes honed
before dark....sorry."

Champ-

I use 3M 77 spray adhesive to stick sandpaper to my glass plate. I also stuck
several strips of coarse sandpaper (60 grit?) to the back side which keeps the
plate from sliding around when it's being used. I use a heat gun to remove
strips when necessary and a razor blade scraper to remove accumulated gunge.
