249456 William Ghio <bghio@m...> 2014‑07‑24 Italian shave horse
Below is a link to a picture I captured from Peter Follansbee's blog (this is
the post - http://pfollansbee.wordpress.com/2013/11/27/thanks-
bill/">http://pfollansbee.wordpress.com/2013/11/27/thanks-bill/ ) of
something referred to as an "Italian style shaving horse". I think the origin of
the name is from Bill Coperthwaite who mentions it in his book "A Handmade Life"
but provides no picture. Coperthwaite calls it a "panko di seggellaio" but that
is either not Italian or is dialect. I haven't found an online translator that
can handle it.

Searching about the net, I found this thread which pictures a few more variants
w/ reference to a spoon carver and clog carver -

This design intrigues me and I think I need to make one. Before doing so, I thot
I should ask: Have you a) made one, b) used one, c) know the origin of the
design, or d) have plans for one?

Bill

Looks cool. I am not understanding what is holding that
clog in the jaws of the horse - the angles look all wrong

I wondered about that too. Probably posed.
