Well this is kind of embarrassing but the guy sold it to someone else.

I sent the guy an email Saturday asking for an appointment, Sunday the ad is
relisted with the price dropped to $50.

Ha, ha I thought but immediately realized such good fortune doesn't usually
happen to me.

Sure 'nuf, Monday afternoon get an email saying it has been sold.

 

Not sure whether to be happy or sad.  I don't really need the thing and
truth be told was more looking forward to cleaning, de-rusting, painting and
oiling than actually using.

What is it with that - am I trying to cleanse my soul of past misdeeds?

I don't normally like to do the dishes, for instance, but I love cleaning up
old arn.

Yeah, on the subject of sharpening, I've read that the blades have to be
super, super sharp.

Even if you could rig up a jig for the sandpaper-on-plate-glass method, the
paper rises ever so slightly.

Not something you would notice sharpening a chisel or plane iron.
