232292 <ecoyle@t...> Aug-09-2012 re-a caution about household abrasive pads....
Many years ago, we were buying no-name abarasive pads for washing
dishes....saving money in the early days of =E2=80=9Cno
name=E2=80=9D products

Our car was parked under a maple tree, and there was a sap storm and all
the windows were covered with sap that was stubborn, so I took the pad
from the kitchen sink and scoured the windows...

Do you see where this is going?

Oh, the windows got cleaned, but when the sunlight hit the windows,
every swirl and scrubitation were clearly visible. Was I PO=E2=80=99d,
you bet. Trip to the grocery store, the Geo Washington brand (ie famous
name) pads had a warning....do not use on glass....the no name ones,
same store, well they didn=E2=80=99t have that warning. seems they saved
a fraction of a cent production cost Lesson learned....

that there=E2=80=99s a reason why they were cheaper.....and you get what
you pay for, and it really introduced me to the concept of mfgr
responsibility and my own responsibility to RTFM, a manual you may not
get when you buy imported products-----from lands where QC. product
liability, etc may not be observed as closely as we might expect in the
western world. Eric in Calgary
