Chuck, The blade was made from a surgical power chisel blade. It is .034"/0.88mm Swiss stainless steel. I did the cutting and rough shaping with a Dremmel w/cut-off wheel. Finished with sandpaper on a block. I didn't think of it, as I went for the chisel blades first (because they come in a variety of widths) but at .034" I could have used a piece of saw blade. roy ---- Chuck Taylor <cft98208@y...> wrote:> Roy wrote: > Sat. at the flea I bought the wooden body of a small coffin > smoother... > http://galootcentral.com/index.php?option=com_copperminevis&Itemid=2&- > place=displayimage&album=38&pos=105 =C2=A0 or > http://tinyurl.com/bwp4997 Roy, I did a double-take when I saw that quarter (US quarter-dollar coin, Jeff) next to the small coffin smoother. You really did mean SMALL, didn't you! How and from what did you make the plane iron?
