Zach says to take the high road across on I-96. I suggest the low road along 
US 12 through every little hamlet and town along the way. The drive is nice 
and if you're willing to drive as far as the I-69 exit you will pass through 
Allen, once called the antique capital of Michigan. Big warehouse size malls 
full of antiques and flea market buys. Prices vary  but they got lots of 
stuff.
Next just outside of Quincy there is the Hog Creek Antique Mall. Another big 
barn full of stuff and a porch that has the occasional find. On to 
Coldwater. There is a small place on the north side of the road. I forget 
the name but I've found a few good tools there.

The only thing I gained from being a radio advertising salesman for a brief 
time was the experience of finding little hidden shops while knocking on 
every door in 6 counties looking for customers. You meet the nicest people.

I'll visit  more family in the Detroit area via southern Ontario (Niagara
Falls to Windsor), then home to Indiana.  I'll be driving my own truck, so
I can take any side trips I like and haul whatever I find home.  I'm mostly
in tool deaccession mode, so emphasis is on family time, but there's bound
to be something out there that I need.
