At a good pet store you can buy silicone specifically for use in
aquariums. That's what they use to hold the tanks together. This
material is essentially free of additives because many salt and fresh
water tropical fish are extremely sensitive to water quality. Fishkeeprs
tend to get a bit peeved if a contaminant kills a rare, expensive fish.

You can use aquarium quality silicone for your glass. It is not
particularly expensive as I recall. Been a decade or more since I last
