That would be my way of doing it.   A lot more accurate and less 
chance of anything traumatic happening, unless you don't say 
straight, but then the advice might be to  cut wide of the line just 
in case.  You are going to finish up with a chisel and 1/8" actually 
would be an easier cut that getting too close.
