Greetings, all:

Ah, yes, what to do when you find the top item on your flea market Wish
List at the very first tool stall you visit? Couldn't identify the maker at
first light, but the 12-inch fret saw felt good and solid enough in hand
that I knew it was a keeper, especially for eight bucks. Cursory wipedown
yesterday afternoon reveals only Made In USA so far, but also showed the
saw to be in even better shape that I'd realized.

So I was happy enough to just enjoy the company and the fresh air and the
weather, but how to pass up another Dexter knife, especially a spiffy old
one with a June 18, 1907, patent date stamped into the beefy wooden handle?
This now sits alongside the other wood handled oldie (also an Alameda flea
market score) in my shop, and now I don't have to switch back and forth
between the two blade shapes I like.

And I'd completely forgotten how much I needed a nice machinist scribe
until Bill opened an original box of Starretts and convinced the dealer to
sell the remaining three to us individually for a mere five bucks a pop.
Like I said, good company.
