Interestingly, and related to the recent thread about newly found tools,  
last week I found an ECE jack plane I had gotten years ago and then  'lost'.  
It's the same plane that's shown in the literature paper  seen in the 1/15 
picture in Don's file.  It was made in Western  Germany, so that dates it a 
bit.  I did some serious work on the blade and  now it makes lovely .001 
shavings with almost no friction; a nice feeling  plane.
