Wes, Frank, and Kirk,

Thank you all very much for your input. I doubted that the case was a
Gerstner, as I also noticed the round lock, which was unlike anything I was
able to find on a Gerstner. Wes, unfortunately, there are no remains of a
label, although there is was appears to be something printed on a lable
(completely unreadable) on the lock. Frank, I did notice the resemblance
between the Gerstner leatherette case and mine, as well as between the
Woodcraft version of the 100 year anniversary chest.

Now I need to figure out how best to restore the chest. I have glued up
the loose drawer parts and will, most likely, clean up the interior of the
drawers and replace the felt. I also plan to re-glue the back's veneer.
It will be a great tool chest when it's finished. The chest was a gift
from a friend of my mother's. The friend, along with her husband, had been
machinists during their careers in the Marine Corps and the chest had
belonged to Georgette's husband. It's nice to know the provenance of some
of my tools.

Thanks again, everyone. The porch is the best!

Dwight
