GGs,

I have had a tool chest for some time and now am beginning to edge toward
some repair and restoration. I have no idea who the manufacturer might be
and I'm wondering if the tool chest aficionados on the porch might be
willing to weigh in with an opinion. A picture of a Gerstner chest once
sold by Woodcraft looks like this:

This is mine:

On the back, inside wall of the chest is stamped "Model F-20". The
drawers, lid, and the chest itself have a penciled "38" on all of them, but
my guess is that this was to keep the parts together and has nothing to do
with a model of chest. Other than that, there are no identifying marks. I
know that Gerstner had many admirers and copies were made by other
companies, so I don't have a particular desire to have mine be a Gerstner.
I would just like to know if any of us could shed some additional light on
the matter.

Regards,

Dwight
