When we paint our boat we use Imron, which is a catalyzed plastic paint.
In 2008, the white was $140 a gallon, the red was $530 a gallon. I bet
the gaudy colors were a sign of wealth! I have also read that Barn Red
paint was whitewash with animal blood in it!

Thankfully, we got 18 years out of the last paint job, which is
remarkable in the marine environment.
