In my initial post, I did neglect to mention, I did actually do a test of this square, as Wes describes. The square is a 10" blade and the two lines diverge by about 1/16" over 10" meaning that the square is just a little under 90 degrees. I then confirmed by comparing it to my Starrett that actually passes this test. I attempted to so to speak "whack" back into square (I was afraid to hit it much harder for fear of bending something) and I cannot tell that it moved at all. It does seem apparent that the blade is solidly attached. I mostly would like to avoid the file techniques as that sounds very much time consuming when I already have a glut of accurate squares already. I was curious if there was a technique similar to the one used on framing squares that could applied.
