Whilst I admire the immaculately finished and over-engineered tools
exemplified by Karl Holtey's creations, I also have a sneaking fondness
for the results of "I needed to do a job so I made a quick tool"
expediency.

I've recently encountered two such items, a hacked-from-oak and a blade
held by a coach bolt stail engine (seen at a car boot sale) and a lathe
whose simplicity can only be terms "majestic", seen at auction.
